Bose 601 speakers

Is anyone here familiar with these speakers? I know opinions vary widely on Bose.

I found a pair of 601 series 111 speakers in a pawn shop for $50. The cones and horns are in good shape, although the speaker grills need some attention. At that price, I figured it was worth the risk. They have to be better than the old Fischers I have been using.

I was wrong...these are the first generation of the 601 line of speakers.
