John B
too good to be true? Based on some of the customer comments on the ePublicEye site they link to I'll be avoiding this one. I'd be curious to hear if anyone takes the plunge and actually can get these sets for $11 plus shipping.
WD45
Reminds me a bit of the time about 6 years ago where the one online site had everything at a price of $5 or some silly thing.
wesbed
I've already purchased the listed Selects directly from Mosaic. I have no need to purchase the Selects all over again. I'm wondering, though, is the site offering the $11 deals not a reliable online vendor? I've never heard of the company.
ejp626
Hard to see how they could make any money, unless these fell off a truck. OTOH, I don't have the Brookmeyer, and I'd be willing to gamble. Sometimes these places just get the prices wrong. Amazon was selling a 10 CD set of Billie Holiday (from Definitive) that replicated the Columbia set, and it only cost $20. I know some people got the entire set at that price. (Now it is $90, though plenty of used copies for $50 floating about.)
brownie
They sell individual CDs at $11. My guess is that whoever listed the Mosaic Selects on that page is unaware that these are 3CD sets! I say Human Mistake. And fire the person responsible for this! ejp626
They do have the track listing correct, though, and they should be suspicious that you can fit 30+ tracks on 1 CD.
ejp626
Ah well, human nature strikes again. I did order the Brookmeyer and will let you know if it shows up. Mosaic has got a lot of my other money, and I wouldn't have paid $36+ for the Select, since I already have some of the albums on it.
Chuck Nessa
If you want to be really greedy, go to the home page and copy the promo code for $1 off each cd.
WD45
The tension is palpable... Will they arrive? Will the prices remain? Will I empty my wallet there?
undergroundagent
I ordered, but then reconsidered. The customer reviews on this site are horrible. I'm also going to contact my credit card company in the event that they ignore my cancellation request and charge me for the items.
RDK
If you want to be really greedy, go to the home page and copy the promo code for $1 off each cd. Thanks Chuck! I ordered the three that I didn't have. Heck, it's not like any money I save (if they do indeed show up) won't be going back to Mosaic anyway... ejp626
I kind of like the gamble, especially since this looks a little dodgy. If I lose out, then I won't be as tempted to stray from the straight and narrow again. There are actually a number of shops on Gemm.com that I won't deal with again because their fill rate is so low. But I wasn't that impressed with the rest of their inventory, so I probably won't be coming back again and again to the site.
sidewinder
Looks like there's a whole army of members perusing this thread !
Guest Chaney
C'mon folks, this can't be for real. They're also selling some of the Miles Davis boxed sets for $11.03. I'm guesssing that their intent is to sell CDs and sets at $11.03 per CD.
bluesForBartok
Thanks for the tipoff! I ordered three as well. Hope they show up
undergroundagent
Customers waiting a year to receive items is enough to turn me off. Plus, I nee dto save my $$$ for a potential big buy from a board member who shall remain anonymous.
sidewinder
I don't have any of these so went for it and got my dollar off (thanks Chuck). Should be interesting.. B-) Edited February 4, 2005 by sidewinder
Clunky
I'm not comfortable with this "bargain" so I'll pass
Bright Moments
I'm not comfortable with this "bargain" so I'll pass ditto that!
Brad
I don't get it. Why would you pass. If they're stupid enough to offer that for $11 as well as Seven Steps to Heaven, by the way, why pass it up?
wesbed
On the Selects, I'd rather pay the higher price and get the merchandise directly from Mosaic. It helps support Mosaic in a direct fashion (eliminates the middle man), Mosaic provides a very quick shipping service, and, if there are any problems, Mosaic is easy to deal with. I view the 'extra' dollars as insurance against potential problems.
Brad
The only Select I ordered is the Reese (I have the others and frankly have Japanese versions of the Reese material). The other was Seven Steps to Heaven. If this stuff is illegal (off the back of a truck), that would be another story and I'd return it. What the heck, if they say that's not the real price, I'll say thank you very much and no thanks. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The worst I can be out of is $22 plus shipping. It's not that big of a risk. If there is a moral component here, then guilty. But we're all big boys.
RDK
Most likely this is just an error on their part and they'll soon cancel our orders. Otherwise we might score. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
Michel_M
I'm guesssing that their intent is to sell CDs and sets at $11.03 per CD. I think so ... All the box sets are ... $11.03 (Miles, Dexter Prestige, etc, etc. ) Complete
Big Wheel
The company is Malaysian, so that may be a clue...though I couldn't for the life of me fathom why the Malaysian CD pirates would bother with copying Mosaic Selects!
