Chalupa Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 So did anyone else make it down to the Bride on Saturday night to catch Steve Bernstein??? I only caught the late show but it was sweet. What a frickin' lineup - SB on trumpet, backed by Uri Caine, the Sam Rivers Trio, Marty Erhlich, and Vincent Chancey on French horn!! Quote

Great to hear Rivers! Quote
Jeffro Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I saw Benny a couple years ago in Carmel, CA, and echo the sentiments about his performances being long & very entertaining (including the stories). The show I was at included a presentation to Golson of some kind of Congressional award/honor. Clifford Brown's widow and son were in the audience & got up to speak briefly. What do you folks think about his "Terminal 1" CD? I was a little disappointed in my first listen. I just got done with a weekend-long Dixieland jazz festival in Monterey. There was some damn good music there--too bad most of the jazz community under 60 years of age doesn't seem to support these kinds of events. Quote
