connoisseur series500 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I wish to put out the big WELCOME mat for Evan, who has joined our board upon my recommendation. Grab some java, sit down, and get to know the folks here. Don't forget to check out BN reissue thread on page 2 of the "Reissues" section. Our board leader is Jim Alfredson (B-3er) and he's got a terrific bunch of duputies helping out with things. Enjoy! Paul Quote
Ed S Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 duputies Typo? Or some sort of Freudian slip. Is the good doctor around? Quote
Ed S Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Yes, by all means - a hearty welcome to Evan. Quote
Bright Moments Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 thanks for the welcome! i'm a big jazz fan wit a growing cd library (about 700 cd's and counting). i am currently listening to everything i can find by lee morgan, but my tastes are very broad. if anyone wants to recommend a "must have" cd let me know! btw do you all "kazaa"? regards! evan Quote
jazzbo Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Welcome Evan! I'll recommend "Louis Armstrong Plays W. C. Handy" and Charles Mingus "East Coasting." Two recordings I can see a Lee Morgan fan digging! Guess I don't do the K-word because I don't know what it means! Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 (edited) Kazaa is one of the successors to Napster. Welcome aboard, Evan! Edited June 9, 2003 by Dan Gould Quote
Claude Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Hello Evan Are "Kazaa"and "Napster" drinks? Sounds tasty Quote
catesta Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 (edited) Are "Kazaa"and "Napster" drinks? Sounds tasty Yeah, don't you remember the Chuck Nessa with the lampshade on his head incident at the 54th annual BNBB picnic? I believe it was a direct result of too many Kazaa's on the rocks. I'll never forget the look on Cuscuna's face. Edited June 9, 2003 by catesta Quote

Guest Chaney Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 A hearty welcome to you Evan! (I thought we were only accepting new female members this week?) PS: I'n not a Kazaa'er. Not (?) passing judgment but I prefer to financially support the musicians who produce the music that I love. I do have a Madonna tune or two on my hard drive but that doesn't keep me awake nights. Guest Mnytime Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Evan I responded to your PM. And once again, Welcome to the Board! Quote
Bright Moments Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 thanks all for the warm welcome and sorry about that kazaa thing (lost my head). evan Quote
slsmcgrew Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Does this mean if he pisses me off I get to blame you? (just kidding) The more members, the more I learn. Welcome Evan!!! Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 there I was searching some obscure jazz artifact or two and scroll down to find that sig pic of the gal from Mad Men all red headed and then some so I just wanted to say thank you in your welcome thread! Quote
Bright Moments Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 lol - i forgot that it even existed! hard to believe it was almost 7 years ago!! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I was just trying to figure out why slsmcgrew's post was not displaying (I think I fixed it) and scrolled by Evan's new signature picture. My wife just happened to walk by at that moment and said, in a very accusatory tone "Who are you looking at?!?" Thanks, Evan. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 so just for posterity, er, the other way around ... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 One big eye. Not sure about other parts. Quote
jazzbo Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Christina Hendricks. She was great in Firefly in a few episodes. Men are putty in her hands. Quote
