rostasi
I have a question about this picture linked below. This picture appears to have Ayler, Roswell Rudd and Lewis Worrell, a.o. We know of Harold Budd as a pianist, but I've understood that he played drums with Ayler in an Army band. So, is that him on drums are was there more than one Army band that Ayler played in? Budd? thanks, rod
Late
Don't know the answer Rod, but that is one clean-shaven Rudd! Doesn't even look like him (at least from the few pictures I've seen).
Chuck Nessa
Geez, I though someone had discovered the rumored Albert Ayler/Julie Budd tapes.
JSngry
Does this look like it could be the same guy? Actually, I think that's Wally Cox on drums.
AfricaBrass
Does this look like it could be the same guy? Actually, I think that's Wally Cox on drums. Mr. Peepers! I've heard music by a Harold Budd who has worked with Brian Eno. Is that who you're referring to?
AfricaBrass
Thanks Rod! I had no idea about this. I actually have a couple of Harold Budd cds of his ambient music.
brownie
The Ayler jam photo was taken in Orleans, central France, in 1960-1961 when Ayler was stationed there. In the 'Holy Ghost' book there is a photo of the same people taken the same day on page 97. That photo is credited 'courtesy Edward Ayler', Albert's father! 7/4
He claims that this last CD that he just put out is his last. Something about "saying all that I have to say..." It's the last CD he's on. He's retiring to spend more time with his kid.
brownie
Thanks Brownie. That's the photo that I saw as well that confirmed their names - taken by dad Whoever took the photo is still unidentified. Albert's father happened to have a copy of it and made it available for the 'Holy Ghost' box release!
