Leeway Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Having an old family recipe today: pasta in "pink sauce," which is simply a ricotta cheese-tomato sauce blend. Small chunks of beef that have been braised and then stewed in the tomato sauce rounds out the place. Add a nice red wine and you have a very tasty, and now that I think of it, a very sensual dish. Sundog Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Cabbage is wonderful. Damn straight!. I made a nice white bean soup last week w/ cabbage, kale, and risotto that was quite good. Tonight, pasta with arugula pesto, carrots with pine nuts and currants, arugula salad with walnuts, and a nice glass of chianti. Quote
kinuta Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Cabbage is versatile, cheap and good. Chinese wok fried with pork and dried mushrooms, or with garlic, ginger turmeric and chillies plus a touch of garam masala, shredded and cooked with mashed potatoes in patties covered in Besan batter- the list is endless. Here it's often shredded and eaten raw as an accompaniment to many deep fried dishes. Quote
