While at Mill Basin Deli the other day I noticed they had pastrami egg rolls behind the counter, so tonight I made egg rolls but filled with Prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella di Bufala and thin potato slices. Served them with asparagus and roasted artichoke.

It turned out good.

Tater Tot Casserole. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds, probably worse. Let's face it, anything that includes "cream of mushroom soup" as an ingredient ain't real cooking. It's comfort food night...

Never posted in this thread before, but tonight....

Catfish po-boys - my Nebraska-born wife has learned the ways of the catfish and has a really nice touch -

on fresh French bread

with lettuce, tomatoes,

pickles thin-sliced lengthwise,

a couple of bags of Zapp's Louisiana potato chips

and a couple of cold beers.

Simple and amazing. If I can't be on Frenchmen Street tonight, this was the next best thing.

Italian herbs chicken sauteed in a lemon, butter and olive oil sauce with sliced mushrooms.

Served over steamed rice.

Tossed greens as a side.

Pinot Grigio is optional.

It's awesome.

Hot tube steaks in a bun, potato salad, coleslaw and fresh fruit. All home grown, 'cept the sausages.

You had me at "hot tube steak"............. :excited:

So, I take it no one here has ever had a frozen dinner, or Mickey D's, or anything like that...

Japanese pasta. Udon noodles topped with:

Homemade ponzu sauce (50/50 mixture of soy sauce and water, plus some squirts of lemon from the Meyer lemon tree out back)

Chopped green onion

A few drops of sesame oil

A shaking of sesame seeds and some Japanese furikake seasoning on top.

Probably not consumed exactly in this form by real Japanese people, but it tastes good. Going to buy some cherry tomatoes and long beans and make a green papaya salad tomorrow.

Spice-rubbed chicken cutlets on the grill, on a roll with BBG sauce and coleslaw, accompanied by roasted fingerling potatoes(some of them purple) with some backyard rosemary and a lettuce , cucumber and heirloom tomato salad.
