Nothing big for the next two nights, but on the 4th, I'm going to grill some baby backs, corn on the cob and make a nice Insalata Caprese.

Come on over, I get the real fresh stuff. :)

Since my 4th will probably consist of a nice frozen dinner, let me check Travelocity real quick. ^_^

My wife just called to say that not only are they bringing home 10lbs of fresh strawberries, but a gallon of raw goats milk as well. Goats milk ice cream is one of my favorites, and with some fresh juicy strawberries on top. I'm already committed to one batch for a picnic tomorrow, so it looks like the ice cream machine has a lot of spinning to do.

I made my world famous shrimp salad today, needless to say why it is indeed world famous. It's practically a divine intervention thing.

So, uh, what's your recipe? Or is that some kind of trade secret?

Really easy and simple to make.

2 cups small elbow macaroni(precooked)

6 large eggs

3 heaping tablespoons of real mayonnaise(as much as you can get on the spoon)

3 heaping tablespoons of sweet pickle relish

1 can of tiny shrimp

boil mac for 5 to 7 minutes in salted water, strain and let cool

boil eggs for 19 minutes, let cool, then peel and chop up

Strain water off shrimp

Mix everything in a medium large bowl, voilà! It's that simple and tasty.

Helen, Dave and I went to Hoover's for an Independence Day dinner extravaganza. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and a dinner salad with ranch dressing. Yum.

Sounds good- I might add some paprika and/or some fresh chopped dill. :)

I live just a few blocks from there, but have never eaten there. So 's good?

Sometimes I find there's spice in everything that I order and it's a bit too much. . . . But with careful ordering, it's a soulful eating experience. Try it out!

With my wife's currently (and probably future) compromised immune system due to cancer treatment, Hoover's is her favorite place to eat because she trusts everything to be thoroughly cooked. I wish Hoover's was closer to our house; when we go on our own it costs us nearly 30 dollars round trip via cab!

Does every city have a deli named Katz's?

Nothing big for the next two nights, but on the 4th, I'm going to grill some baby backs, corn on the cob and make a nice Insalata Caprese.

Free For All and I are talking about the same Katz's in the same city!

Originally I thought you guys were talking about Katz's in Manahattan, then I see there is a deli by the same name in Austin and one in Houston as well. In Phoenix there is also something they call Katz's deli, but I'm sorry to say that is pure shit.

So, maybe not every city. ;)

It's too freaking hot to cook. I made up tuna salad for sammiches, with cottage cheese on the side.

Sounds good- I might add some paprika and/or some fresh chopped dill. :)

There you go! Sounds good, except I can't imagine dill with shrimp. Actually, I've never added dill to anything; maybe I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks for the recommendation. I mean, I can walk there, so... seems like a good idea.

Glad you and the missus had a good 4th of July feast; I ate stir-fried shrimp, pasta and steamed broccoli with my parents before watching the Houston fireworks.
