Big Wheel Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Tonight's dinner: Tonjiru, which is miso soup with thinly sliced pork and burdock added, along with leek, potato, and carrot. Canteloupe as an appetizer and a Moretti Rosso to wash it all down. Quote
Free For All Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Friday night. I made up a batch of my late mom's potato-corn chowder. A couple modifications- I start with a couple slices of diced bacon in the pot- when it's crispy, I add the onions, then the potatoes and some water/chicken broth. Later I add the corn, seasoning (Old Bay!) and then I add shrimp, clams, crabmeat and some chopped up pollock (or whatever fish I end up with), so it becomes a fish chowder. Even though I live in the midwest and therefore have to use some canned seafood, I must say it's still mighty tasty. Comfort food for a chilly evening. Cheers! Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 I'm going to try my hand at some tandoori style chicken tonight. My father-in-law got me an awesome set of Indian spices, so my first attempt shall be the tandoori. I don't have a 600 degree clay oven, but I think it will still be good. I should look up how to make some naan. Quote

Peter Johnson Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 A terrific dinner tonight with my significant other before the symphony. Nice bottle of Spanish red accompanying a beet salad with seasoned goat cheese; we both had scallops, nicely pan-fried with mashed yams and kale. Yum. Symphony sucked, but the food, we remember. Oysters three ways with Cava for New Year's, rest of the menu as of yet undetermined! Quote
