They are exactly like a B3. Hook it up to a leslie and you're Jimmy Smith. Does it have the pedals with it? If not, don't worry it's well worth the dough anyway. But be sure to ask for them if they are not on the organ now, they might be leaning against the wall forgotten. Depending on condition they usually go for about $1,500 to $3,500 it seems depending on a lot of things. $300 is a no brainer. Congrats! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 (edited) ALL the bass pedals work i messed around with the pedals last night do they unhook somehow from the organ itself? ss1 Edited January 25, 2005 by Soulstation1 Quote
Soul Stream Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 ALL the bass pedals work i messed around with the pedals last night do they unhook somehow from the organ itself? ss1 GREAT@!!!!!! Yes, the pedals to come off. Just put both hands on either side of the pedalboard where it connects to the organ...slightly lift up (you'll fell it detach)...and pull away from the organ. Done. Damn....how come I never find B3s,C3s or A100s for $300! Quote
Soul Stream Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 By the way, A100s sound great by themselves. No leslie needed unlike B3s and C3s. Perfect for the house, no bulky leslie to take up a lot of space. I started on an A100 w/o leslie and I still love that straight A100 sound. Very pure. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 i could probably get a manual off e-bay, w/o a manual would i have alot of problems figuring shit out? i am not a patience person ss1 Quote

Big Al Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 (edited) scottb, WE GOT OURSELVES AN ORGANIST!!!! Watch out Organissimo! (tidetd ofr lepsing) Edited January 25, 2005 by Big Al Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 ss1 congrats! Yes, by all means buy that baby! I got an A100 for $200 awhile ago but my wife wouldn't let me keep it. I sold it to a buddy of mine for what I paid, since he's a good friend and poor as hell. He turned around a sold it for a profit to pay for work on another organ of his (which is fine) but I wish I still had it. Beautiful tone. I agree with Soul Stream, a Leslie would be nice, but you don't really need one. You can get the Larry Young vibe without it! You said you're not patient. You have to be to learn any instrument. Fool around with it, listen to records, noodle around, but if you're serious don't give up. They are hard instruments to play but if you keep at it, one day it'll click. You have a big resource here to ask questions about technique, drawbar settings, pedal ideas, etc. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 BIG AL PATTON don't organ playa hate!!!! :g Quote
Soul Stream Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 i could probably get a manual off e-bay, w/o a manual would i have alot of problems figuring shit out? i am not a patience person ss1 You're going to need more than a manual. If you're just needing to know how to turn it on, which drawbars to pull out, percussion and vibrato/chorus advice. Jim or I could tell you all that in a few sentences. Then just pull out your favorite organ record and begin to copy! (hey, it's the method we all used [and still use]). Quote
Big Al Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 BIG AL PATTON don't organ playa hate!!!! :g Dude, you on B3, scottb on guitar, and me on drums!!! We'll be the loudest band on the planet (to cover up our noticable lack of skills!). Any suggestions for the name of our band? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 BIG AL we should be called "da funkee ass trio" first cd will be "waitin' 4 da boogaloo sistas" DOCTOR SS1 Quote
scottb Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 OK we got a name. I can play Burrell's solo to ORGAN GRINDER'S SWING so you guys work on your parts to that song and we'll have material. All we need now is a gig. Shreveport LA is sorta central to me and AL (getting your organ there is YOUR problem. I don't care if Joe does help Jim with his rig, this guitarist don't haul the B3!!) The jazz scene is so dead / nonexistent that we will likely be the best jazz organ trio in town! I'll give you guys 2 years to learn the song. See ya in 2007! Look out Shrevepit! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 27, 2005 Author Report Posted January 27, 2005 i can't make my mind up on the A-100, i have little or no musical skills the vibrato(spelling) board needs cleaning it is sticky i believe i found a place to get the manual and a place in town has some paper work on using the drawbars, she charges a couple bucks for copies of the paperwok the a-100 was produced 1959-1965 how can i tell which year this one was produced? Soul Stream Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 (edited) Tony Monaco's Website i can't make my mind up on the A-100, i have little or no musical skills the vibrato(spelling) board needs cleaning it is sticky i believe i found a place to get the manual and a place in town has some paper work on using the drawbars, she charges a couple bucks for copies of the paperwok the a-100 was produced 1959-1965 how can i tell which year this one was produced? DR SS1 Have you bought it yet? If so, turn it on, pull out the 1st three drawbars all the way out (to 8) in the second cluster of 9 drawbars...then percussion "on" "soft" "fast" "third". Press the BLACK B natural key down (these are the reverse color preset keys. Now your top keyboard is in the "Jimmy Smith" mode. next put your vibrato knob to C3 Then, for your pedals...in the cluster of drawbars that has 2 drawbars (these are your pedal drawbars)...pull the 1st one all the way out. Then for your lower keyboard. Again, on that keyboard, press the B natural BLACK key down (the reverse color preset keys again). Then go to the 3rd set from the left of 9 drawbar clusters. Pull out the 1st and 3rd drawbars all the way (to 8). Now your left hand can play the bass on the lower keyboard. I suggest you go to www.b3monaco.com and buy his "playing jazz hammond" DVD. Get the 1st DVD, it shows you all about the hammond and drawbar settings, everything that's basic to jazz hammond playing. Perfect for an absolute beginner.
