Over half of the responders have more music than I do!  Wait a minute; Barb's gotta see this... :excited:

Oh never mind; it won't help.  :(

If it did, I'd have my wife here in a nanosecond. <_<

I'd like to know where the hell everybody fits these thousands of CD's.

The amount of CDs I own somehow always seem to keep ahead of available shelf space...

How much shelf space IS there in Mt. Airy, anyway? :D

We may have to borrow some additional shelf space from Chestnut Hill.

I've just tallied up my LPs and CDs and I'm around the 5000 mark. All jazz, apart from a couple of Classical LPs and a stack of Steely Dan. Gonna have to clear out some old 70s vinyl to make some room..

Damn, I was thinking the same thing about Mt. Airy. :(

The thing I love about this poll is that I can show the results to my wife, and claim the size of my collection is perfectly normal!!!

(At least by Organissimo standards.  ^_^ )

She'll just be conviced that you hang out with other psychos like yourself.

She'd be right!!! :g

Too big. I don't have time to properly listen to and appreciate the music I have, but I still can't seem to stop adding to the collection. If we include all the LPs, CDs and CDRs of unissued live performances in my basement, I am probably somewhere between 4500 and 5000.

Mines so big I can't [edited for freudian slip, oh my...] measure it, and it just keeps growing! :o

But seriously, I guestimated it at between 3500 and 5000, all formats, all styles. Mostly vinyl, mostly jazz.

If you take the midpoint of each numerical category and then assume that those in the 5000+ category have exactly 5,000, that's a total of 201,300 CD's. When I did he math, 83 people had replied which is an average of 2,425 CD's per respondant. If you assume an average cost per CD of $12.00 (which is probably low) the total investment is in the neighborhood of $2.4 million. That means the average person's investment is right around $29,000. My Lordy me!!

Up over and out.
