brownie
Anyone ever here the Solomon Ilori album, SI and His Afro Drum Ensemble album? Looks interesting. Young man, get back to school quickest! But before you do that, sit down and write the following sentence one hundred times: Here I am, I would like to hear Solomon Ilori When your spelling gets better, I'll tell you all about that album

Soul Stream
ahhh - all those other recordings are masterpieces compared to Hot Dog -
king ubu
I have to agree on "Unit Structures" - it may indeed be THE BADDEST ever album Blue Note recorded! ubu
Jazz Kat
ahhh - all those other recordings are masterpieces compared to Hot Dog - Don't let the word 'masterpice' throw you. Three Sounds records are masterpieces, and not being compared to anything! B-)
sidewinder
I may well be flamed by the grease merchants for saying this but Reuben Wilson's 'Blue Mode' has never grabbed me and sounds like an under-rehearsed jam. Cool cover art though (wasn't this a Marti Klarwein?) Thumbs up for the 3 Sounds by the way.. Edited January 26, 2005 by sidewinder

Jazz Kat
Go, by the Dex. I like the melody of Cheese Cake, but not the version they play on the record. I like the rendition of Love For Sale, but that's about it. 'Dexter Calling' is so much better.
Brad
You must be surely be kidding but not for nothing Dexter called Go a "classic." While I know not everybody loves this record as much as his other BNs, to consider Go in the category of worst albums is mind boggling to say the least. Jazz Kat
Oh, I wasn't putting it in the worst category. I said I didn't really enjoy it. Edited January 26, 2005 by Jazz Kat

Jazz Kat
I mean this stuff is wierd, how it all works. For some reason I just don't dig it. I think the album was a little bit too over-mojulated. Billy Higgins's rivet cymbol is too close to the mic. It gets very crackly. That has been known to happen on a lot of BN albums. Such as Tina Brooks' Waiting Game.
Jim Alfredson
I'm not happy with Jimmy Smith's first album, called A New Star A New Sound. He didn't have the hip stops down yet, and compared to his later work it's disappointing. scottb
Oh, I wasn't putting it in the worst category You make this post: Go, by the Dex in a thread titled Worst Albums, which you started, so I assume you understand the premise. How is that not saying you consider GO one of the worst?

But, now you know. I dont think of it as one of THE WORST BN's.

ralphie_boy
How about the Donald Byrd with voices lp. You like that one? I don't really get that album. Which one? I love a New Perspective. I've never heard the other.

Not bad, just ordinary IMHO. I much prefer others such as One Flight Up and Our Man in Paris.
