Jim Alfredson Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Paul sent me the pics, so here goes: Chuck and Paul maxin' and relaxin'! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Another group shot. Notice I Photoshop'd out the beer stain on my shirt! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Shot from Paul's neice's vantage point (catesta, she was a cutie!) Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Kinda dark, but Randy's back there playin' the skins and you can see my trucker stickers on the Yammy: Quote
7/4 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Woah...woah...woah...you have a synth on top of your gear? What do you use it for? Quote
wesbed Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Thanks for posting the pictures. I wish I could have been there. Bravo! Bravo!! B-) Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Woah...woah...woah...you have a synth on top of your gear? What do you use it for? I only bring it out once and while when playing with Organissimo. When I play with the R&B band, I use it for piano, horns, strings, Rhodes, Wurlizter, clavinet, nutty synth solos, etc. With the big "O" I just use it for Rhodes and Wurli, mainly. It has very convincing electric piano patches (back me up, Paul, Chuck, or Greg!) but it's a beast to haul around. I think it weighs about 40lbs or so. Randy wanted me to bring it out for the Firefly gig, so I did. I only used it on three tunes. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 It has very convincing electric piano patches (back me up, Paul, Chuck, or Greg!) Sounded like an electric piano to me. (Now there will be no more excuses. Donnie Hathaway's "The Ghetto" will now become a part of the repertoire...) Quote
wesbed Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Let's see... Organissimo will be playing in Tucson, Arizona in the year... 2008? Quote

(Now there will be no more excuses. Donnie Hathaway's "The Ghetto" will now become a part of the repertoire...) Except for the fact that I'd feel strange singing about the ghetto!! Some white boy from a farm town talkin' about the ghetto? I'd be afraid of running into this brother that met me backstage in Lansing after the jazz festival a few years ago... they introduced me as playing "like Jimmy Smith" instead of being influenced by Smith. After the set, this elderly brother came up to me and said: "Man, you ain't no Jimmy Smith! And I'll tell you another thing... you ain't no Jack McDuff either! And Shirley Scott would whoop your ass!" He did have one caveat, however. He told me, "You're all right, though... for a white boy." Quote

GregK Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Greg and Randy, pals. Maybe we can all just get along... I wasn't aware of any potential problems. Quote

ghost of miles Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 My wife & I are planning on going up to Saugatuck for a long weekend sometime in May or June... I'll be checking the calendar here to see if you guys have any gigs nearby around that time. If so, we'll try to schedule our trip accordingly. Quote
