Jim Alfredson Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I just talked to the engineer who recorded our record, Mr. Glenn Brown in E. Lansing. We were discussing upcoming projects and he said that he just bought and is currently installing the Neve 8086 console from Muscle Shoals!! Holy moly! Check out the website and pay special attention to the "discography" section! It lists all the recordings made in this famous studio throughout the years. The Neve 8086 that Glenn just bought was installed in the late 70s. http://mssound.com/index1.html Needless to say, it's an amazing piece of gear (and yes it still works great and sounds awesome!) and I'm looking forward to doing our next project there (to 24 track analog tape hopefully!) Wow! Quote
Sundog Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Some very good "Mojo" in that studio now. It's imperative you record there! Quote
Leeway Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 You're going to be channeling some might musical karma with that stuff. Don't exactly know what 24 track analog is all about, but it sounds way cool Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Where's that buzz coming from? What's that crackle? Never mind boys, keep playing. I'll find it. Quote

Well luckily we'll be recording there months after this is first installed, so hopefully any gremlins will be work out before! Can't wait to see it! I'm going to try and swing by tomorrow. Quote
jazzhound Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 can you find out what he paid for it? I sold one back in the 80's. actually it was a 8014 but whats a few extra channels? tell him to run Dolby otherwise the eq's are grainy if you run any real level. Quote

I can ask tomorrow and if he's comfortable I'll post it here. He'll probably be using it as a ProTools front end. Not much tape work these days. Quote
jazzhound Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Well I'll be anxious to hear that combo. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 I forgot, he also got a pair of EMT plate reverbs! Huge things... with the separate controls that attach to the console. Rock n' Roll!!! Quote
chris olivarez Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 That is unbelivably awesome. May you have many happy and funky and greazy recordings on that equipment!!!!! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 Glenn just sent me a picture of the beast. I haven't had a chance to go see it yet. Hopefully next week. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 Just realized in my first post I mis-stated the model. It's an 8068, not an 8086 (damn dyslexia!) It looks so cool! Quote
Jim R Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Are you sure it wasn't used to control this?: Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 It's interesting you say that, because here's a picture of Glenn Brown... Quote
casanovas347 Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 It's interesting you say that, because here's a picture of Glenn Brown... star trek (star track) lives! Quote
