mikeweil Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 The bonus on the Vertical Vision CD is a live version of Boogie Woogie Waltz - which, BTW, is available for free download on Christian McBride's website. Quote
EKE BBB Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Did anybody already mention Dick Wellstood? Quote
makpjazz57 Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 There's also a lot of pianists who spend/spent a great deal of their lives accompanying others - still monster mucians on their own gigs, as well as master accompanists. Brad already mentioned Gerry Wiggins (spent many years with Lena Horne and Helen Humes). The late George Gaffney played for many vocalists - I always loved hearing him in a duo/trio format. Frank Colett (sp?), Norman Simmons, just to name a few. Marla Quote
JohnS Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 What about George Wallington. He doesn't seem to get much of a mention these days. More up tp date - Peter Madsen is definitely a talent worthy of greater recognition. Quote
