Big Al Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I can honestly say that I have never purchased anything from Dusty Groove. I have no qualm with them, and they have an excellent selection. I've just never felt the urge to purchase anything from them, either because I could justify not needing/wanting it, or just because I've been working hard at curbing impulse buys. 'Taint easy, letmetellyou!!! Anyone else resisted the Bastards? And BTW, I'm probably violating protocol by referring to them as the Bastards, since they don't have any of my money yet. I apologize. Until I actually SPEND some money on them, I will henceforth only refer to them by their proper name. Quote
scottb Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I too have resisted Dusty Groove. Along with not having any Mosaics other than Selects, my self control is beyond question! Quote
WD45 Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I have only ordered once. No, twice. Ah f it. I going there now... Quote
Late Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 What actually keeps me from visiting their site too regularly is their reviews, which never fail to fold my stomach. But I've been their (pardon the expression) bitch since 1999 — have only ordered from them, oh, about 50+ times ... Quote
Brad Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I guess the deafening silence answers the question. Guilty as charged, mon capitain. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I'm going to use the insanity defense . . . Quote
Brandon Burke Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I've never ordered anything from Dusty Groove. Bought a Harold Land OJC LP at the brick and mortar about five years ago but that's about it. They way I see it, there's nothing at DG that I couldn't get somewhere else and their used stuff is outrageously overpriced. What's not to love....? Quote
Brad Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I'm going to use the insanity defense . . . That won't wash since that would mean we're all nuts. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 What, you mean we're NOT all nuts? Quote
Noj Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I placed a series of large orders when I discovered the place, realized I was spending too much, and I haven't gone back. I can't control myself there. Quote
BeBop Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I stop by the store every couple of months, but have never bought anything. Quote
Ron S Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I've been CALLED a bastard, but never succumbed to one. Quote
Jim R Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I can honestly say that I have never purchased anything from Dusty Groove. ..... OH, I get it!! Al, your delivery is world class! I actually thought you were serious for a moment there! Okay, I really do get it. I just don't GET it. I don't know how some of you guys do it. Wait- yes I do. Of the $X,000 I've spent there over the past five years, I would say 95% of it has been spent on Brazilian stuff. I mean, they bring in the shit. I can usually scroll through their "new jazz arrivals" page in very short order... just a personal taste thing happening there. I do order some jazz from them, though. I avoid the overpriced stuff, and because I don't like to spread my credit card numbers all over the face of the earth (and because DG's service has always been terrific), they've been my main online source. I tend to agree about the reviews, BTW, but sometimes there's enough information there (beyond what would be considered subjective information) to help me into making a decision. The "over the top" reviews I now pretty much just laugh at. It's the contradictory/hypocritical ones that get annoying from time to time. Quote
etherbored Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 ps: what's killing is how they're intelligent enough to actually be competitive on price...! Quote
Soul Stream Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I'm not sure how you could resist them. Some of those Blue Note titles are must have and japan only. Quote
doubleM Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 (edited) I've placed exactly one order from ol' Dusty Pube! I must have filled up a dozen shopping carts there, though. -_- Edited January 13, 2005 by doubleM Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 My name is Charles Nessa and I am a regular customer at Dusty Groove. Quote
jazzkrow Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 GUILTY AS CHARGED.... I visit their site weekly and place one or two orders a month. They ship immediately and their prices are reasonable especially on Lone Hill type material. Quote
Leeway Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I'm waiting for Dusty to go to the "All CDs $5.99" before I order. Quote
chris olivarez Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Big Al,Scott and Brandon I admire your restraint. When I go to the bastards web site I have no such restraint -it's almost inevitable that I find something that I just have to buy. It's been my experience that I find titles there that I can't find anywhere else and I really don't think the prices are that out of line. I haven't been there recently but it's just a matter of time and when I do go there-GULP!!! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I've never been to the site. From reading the posts of those who do, I wouldn't dare... Quote
