Ah well, I'm happy they got 'em now! Quote

Free For All Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Bjork - Volta So how's this one? I saw her on SNL doing a tune from this (I think it was "Earth Intruders") with an all-female brass group, and it seemed kind of interesting (nice groove). Quote
Noj Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I like it, Free--but I even dig her as far back as the Sugarcubes. She's always got interesting music behind her. None have equalled Post for my tastes, but Bjork consistently rewards with clever music and lyrics. Quote

None have equalled Post for my tastes, but Bjork consistently rewards with clever music and lyrics. I highly recommend this album. She's back to form. (I didn't care for the last couple albums...though I'm trying...) The arrangements are incredible...especially the horn section. "Declare Independence" is so intense! Quote

Quincy Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Oliver Nelson - Blues and the Abstract Truth Sonny Rollins - On Impulse! Wow, seeing these so cheap almost makes me want to buy them again as gifts. Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs Then again, I have an old tape of a scratchy LP that needs replacing...Nothing like rectifying the early sinful method of music sharing 20+ years later. Quote
WD45 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Can't wait to hear Floratone! I have listened to a couple of cuts on Rhapsody, and it feels like the two Viktor Krauss albums that get many spins around the household. Quote

Big Al Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 As a follow-up, this is what BMG sent to me: Not too long ago we processed an order for you. However, we were unable to send two of your Free selections, D1725050 MAGNIFICENT THAD JONES and D1725043 AFRO-CUBAN, because they were not in stock. Unfortunately, we have just learned that these selections will no longer be available for distribution through our club. This happened last year with THE SPOILER, LUSH LIFE, and THE RIGHT TOUCH RVGs, so I hope it's happening again and these titles will be available again. Still, with what is going on with EMI, I can't help but wonder if EMI/Blue Notes will disappear from their catalog like they did when Fantasy became Concord. Quote
T.D. Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 If EMI/Blue Notes disappear, the yourmusic inventory will become awfully meager. Quote

Yeah, I had all 4 on order and they got canceled. I'm hoping they were just added to the catalog alittle too early. Maynard Ferguson LIVE AT BIRDLAND also got canceled. I had the recent Kenny Cox Conn on order at BMG for the past several months. I'd previously emailed them inquiring about it, and finally got a note from them this weekend cancelling it because "this selection will no longer be available for distribution through our club".
