yesterday i went to the bank, 2 minutes from my place, to cash my work check.

i made a short cut and went straight to the drive through. i looked for the plastic holder for my check and it was gone, i was thinkin' is today a holiday??? then someone pulled up next to me and then the lady said "sorry,we can't help you now, we've just been robbed!!" so i pulled out this time in front of the bank and there is yellow tape on the doors and 3/4 cop cars with their lights flashing.

holy crap!

moral to this story

always use the drive through at the bank, nobody robs a bank via the drive through.

anyone remember the sanford and son when they were in a bank as it was being robbed?

Back in my old days in the financial services industry, I went through a few bank robberies - bullets through the ceiling and all. Often scary, but usually over before you know what hit 'ya. Then again, I've never been the teller looking at the business end of a 9mm. Once, in retail, I got tied up in the back room while the robbers rifled the shelves and cash register. Wish I could repress that memory.

That happened to my cousin while she was working in her step-dad's shop. She didn't like to talk about it. I imagine it must've been pretty traumatic! You have my sympathy!

I've been in the banking industry for 2 years now and so far have not been in a banking center during a robbery.

Several of the banks in my "territory" have been robbed over the last couple years. I was just lucky to have been at a different bank when it happened.

I'm not stationed behind the counter so I probably wouldn't be aware of a robbery as it is taking place. But they'd close down the bank, and everybody has to stay inside till the investigation is completed. That would be a pain, of course.

It is very traumatic for tellers.

There is a funny story about a robbery that took place last year. I'll tell it to those interested when I meet them in person. Don't know if I'm violating security or anything by relating it in a public forum. But knowing me, I'm likely to blurt it out soon enough... :w

I was working as a teller at a bank that was robbed. This would have been about 13 or 14 years ago. It was the day before the Easter long weekend. We were closed, and same as every night everyone was frantically rushing to count up their coins and cash and make sure that everything balanced up so that they could go home. I think because it was a long weekend coming up everyone was rushing a bit more and there was a bit of excitement in the air. Anyway, i heard a crash, and it sounded like some poor bugger had dropped their coin tray. I was so focused on getting my own self sorted that i didn't even look up. Then i heard a second crash, and looked up to see the robbers coming in through the back entrance (the first crash was them busting through the first glass door, the second crash was them busting through the second glass door). Everyone got down behind their counters as we were instructed to do, and for a couple of minutes they did their thing before leaving. No one was hurt. We had to stay to be interviewed by the police. We were there for a while, and someone ordered in a whole bunch of KFC for us to eat. A hot lady from HR or whatever dropped me home afterwards.
