Aggie87 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 I don't know anything about an artist named "Hiromi" other than she is some sort of Ahmad Jamal disciple, but her CD Another Mind is being offered FREE with any purchase at BMG right now. And in this case "free" actually is free - no shipping & handling costs, either. PS - Any purchase of an item costing more than $5 apparently. Quote
Aggie87 Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Osby's "St Louis Shoes" is now available... Not jazz, but they've also got the Essential Leonard Cohen set, if anyone's interested in checking him out - this is a very good overview. Quote
Joe G Posted September 14, 2003 Report Posted September 14, 2003 BMG also has something called "Sketches of Miles 3-pack". It's got the remastered Sketches of Spain, Porgy and Bess, and Someday My Prince... for $14.98. I realize that most people here have these already. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 I see that this week's new selections include Sonny Rollins' The Bridge. I've been wanting that one for some time. I've read that it was his best RCA album. Does anybody recommend it? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Just get it. It may or may not be the best RCA, but it is very, very fine. Quote

Joe G Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Damn! I'd go for the Rollins and the Crimson! The Bridge especially; I've been wanting that one for a long time too, due to the presence of Jim Hall. Quote

jones Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Do they still put those "Manufactured under license" white boxes, or have a disclaimer line elsewhere? Deal or no, I'm kind of an obsessive purist. It might keep me up at night. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Do they still put those "Manufactured under license" white boxes, or have a disclaimer line elsewhere? Deal or no, I'm kind of an obsessive purist. It might keep me up at night. Usually there is a disclaimer in the bar code area. The bar code itself is shortened and underneath it, there is text that states that it's MFD for BMG Direct and then gives an address for BMG. It used to bug me, but I just can't afford to pay retail price, so I live with it. The CDs sound fine to me. Once in a while, you DO get retail versions. Lately, I've had good luck with the Verve facsimile editions (the little LP shaped ones). Quote
