Hank Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 (edited) Yeah, I was looking for that "Coltrane" Deluxe too. The Harder They Come holds up real well--a sterling set of tunes. I'm liking the second disc as well, which is a kind of contemporaneous reggae grab-bag. Some familiar to me, some not. Edited December 30, 2003 by Hank Quote
GregK Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I got that Harder They Come soundtrack earlier this month from BMG. That is awesome--I had never heard it before, and the bonus disc has a bunch of gems on it, too! I wish they would get the Coltrane "Coltrane" deluxe edition. I often wonder what makes them choose one thing [the "Ballads" deluxe edition] and not other things. they have the Coltrane Ballads Deluxe?? I havent seen that in there, but A Love Supreme deluxe is. I too have wondered why choose certain discs and not others Quote
Aggie87 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 (edited) I finally placed an order from the clearance section, and noticed I am now being charged taxes Is this normal, or a new development with BMG? I wasn't getting charged tax before, when I was living in Germany. Also, a couple of new titles that caught my eyes: Ornette Coleman - Complete Science Fiction Sessions (Remastered) Ornette Coleman - Skies of America (Remastered) edit: I missed the previous mention of these titles in this thread - apologies for being redundant... I don't think I get charged tax for BMG orders Quote
Big Al Posted December 30, 2003 Author Report Posted December 30, 2003 It's normal. They've been charging me sales tax on every order I've placed. Welcome back to Texas! Quote

You are correct, GregK, it is the Deluxe Edition of A Love Supreme that I was thinking of. B) Quote

Aggie87 Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 YES. However, remember that you have to add S/H ($2.79 I think) to the price, so really you end up paying $8.18 apiece. You might want to wait until they have one of their better sales. For single discs, the best sale IMO is the Buy 1, Get Unlimited at $1.99. If you buy about 10 discs on this sale, you end up getting them for about $6 apiece, including shipping. Buy more, and the unit cost goes down even further. Either way, you won't find these in retail stores for $8.18 apiece at all, so you're still doing pretty durn good. Quote
Tjazz Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 (edited) Just got some more Dylan SACD discs from BMG. All were digi-pack. Nashville Skyline and Desire were both columbia labels, tape sticker on top, and with yellow BOB DYLAN REVISITED THE REISSUE SERIES stickers on the covers. Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited had Mfd. for BMG Direct printed over the UPC code area. Got the Jeff Buckley (3) Live At Sin-e box set too. It's damaged, so I'll complain and see if I get another one free? (it didn't have any BMG label markings on it) Columbia Legacy Edition complete with clear plastic cover. BFrank Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 It's damaged, so I'll complain and see if I get another one free? They're very good about that. I got a "Last Waltz" (4CDs) set recently that had one damaged disk. I emailed their customer service dept and they shipped another complete set right away. AND I didn't have to return the bad one. I had something similar happen once... I ordered James Brown's 'Live at the Apollo Vol. 2 (Deluxe Edition)'. It arrived without a booklet, and when I asked for a replacement booklet to be sent, they shipped a COMPLETE replacement! Quote
Big Al Posted January 1, 2004 Author Report Posted January 1, 2004 Man, I sure would like to know what I did wrong, with regard to getting replacements! I guess BMG is still under the assumption that I'm gonna send the "incorrect" disc back to them and then they'll issue my replacement disc. Also, I still haven't received my shipment that was shipped out on the 14th. I think this is the longest I've waited for a shipment from BMG. But here's something else I thought of: the shipment from the 11th, I indicated that one of the discs was a "gift." I wonder if that had anything to do with the speed with which my order arrived? And, subsequently, why the current shipment is taking so long? What's the longest any of y'all have waited on a shipment? Quote
street singer Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 What's the longest any of y'all have waited on a shipment? I've had to wait between 3-4 weeks to receive items on a few occasions. Usually it takes between 2-3 weeks. Quote

I guess BMG is still under the assumption that I'm gonna send the "incorrect" disc back to them and then they'll issue my replacement disc. Click HELP. Then go to ORDERS, SHIPMENTS, AND RETURNS. Click on "I RECEIVED A DAMAGED CD. WHAT SHOULD I DO?" At the top: Click on 'Order and Billing Issues' From the Select One box; Pick your order# Click NEXT. A screen should appear that has all the CDs that you selected in your order. On the selection that you had a problem with, pull down the screen for YOUR ISSUE and RECOMMENDED ACTION. Add a description of the action you want in the box at the bottom and then hit SEND. If they don't respond to your complaint, do a follow-up message in a couple of weeks. You can check you account to see if they have reshipped the CD. Good luck. Edited January 2, 2004 by Tjazz Quote

GA Russell Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Didn't Stan Getz's Cafe Montmartre get good reviews? Quote
Aggie87 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I also just noticed Pat Martino's "Think Tank" available at BMG. Good lineup of Martino, Joe Lovano, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Christian McBride, and Lewis Nash. I've heard mixed reviews of this one, but might be worth it at a BMG price anyway. Quote
Tjazz Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 This is the email I received from BMG; We received your message concerning an order you received. You'll be pleased to know we are processing a replacement shipment of D2511202 LIVE AT SIN-E-W/DV. Please allow ample time for delivery. The charges for the original shipment have been removed from your account. It is not necessary to return the imperfect product. Thank you. It is a privilege to serve you.
