Chuck Nessa Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 The new Uptowns by Charlie Rouse ($15) and Allen Eager ($16) are available directly from me. Until I leave on vacation (June 28) US shipping will be free. Orders from elsewhere will have the equivalent of US shipping deducted from their postage charge. The free shipping extends to any Uptown and Nessa cds and discs on Delmark and Okka Disk. During this period all Okka single disc titles will be $12 and Delmarks will be $10 (DD series), $13 (DE) and $14 (DG). I can supply Okka and Uptown lists via Word files. Delmarks can be researched on their web site. You can contact me at cnessa@earthlink.net. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted June 4, 2003 Author Report Posted June 4, 2003 I just discovered the Okka list I've been sending out is missing the following title: 12035 ALLY Trio/DKV Trio "Double or Nothing" w/ Gustafsson, Vandermark, Drake, etc. Sorry for the error. Quote
Saint Vitus Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Chuck, Okka doubles are listed (in the word file you sent) as $15 (and Brotzmann 3-discs set $28). Is this correct? Quote
Clunky Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Sorry Chuck but ,what prices for other Uptowns and Nessa CDs Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 5, 2003 Author Report Posted June 5, 2003 Nessas and Uptowns are $15 per disc with the exception of the Mingus, which is $16. The multidisc Okkas are as priced in the catalog. Quote

catesta Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 UP! Based on my satisfaction with the Rouse&Rodney Uptown date. Quote
pryan Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 (edited) Glad to hear you like the Eager, catesta. I anxiously await to receive my package from Michigan, which includes the Eager and Roscoe Mitchell's, SNURDY MCGURDY AND HER DANCIN' SHOES. Edited June 12, 2003 by pryan Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 21, 2003 Author Report Posted June 21, 2003 Thanks to all for the orders (a few days left) and some info for Okka fans. I ran out of the Brotzmann 3 disc set, re-ordered from them and Bruno called to tell me the set is out of print. I suggest anyone interested search for it and get it now. Bruno said he still had 300 covers and might someday repress it "if he could". Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Great sale, Chuck! Love the discs (including the Brötzmann ) Quote

As Chuck let us down on this title - - , for anyone interested, OTHER MUSIC in New York City was able to supply me with a copy of this one. I'm not sure if they have any left but if you've been a-lookin'... By the way, while both Verge and Aquarius Records list this title as available, don't believe them (as I did) - they're both out of stock. ON THE EDIT: Sorry, but I've just learned that I got the last copy being offered by Other Music. Edited June 26, 2003 by Chaney Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 27, 2003 Author Report Posted June 27, 2003 Absolutely last call. My local post office closes at 4:30 tomorrow, and we leave on vacation at 5. I'll be back online on July 14. Thanks to all taking part. It will contribute to the reissue of my Warne Marsh material. Quote

Thanks very much to you too, Chuck, and have an excellent trip. That's exciting news about the Marsh release; please let us know when it's about to come out. Quote
P.D. Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 (edited) Mine arrived today.. thought I'd thank you publicly.. The Eager is another first class production When you've been listening to, and collecting Jazz for awhile, this kind of issue is very important.. hope you have similar projects about to germinate. If you missedout on Chuck's deal... buy it anyway, an amazinly produced bit of rare Jazz history.. and great music besides. More Please. Edited June 27, 2003 by P.D. Quote
Clunky Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 (edited) The Eager is an amazing issue. A labour of love I would guess. It's not just archaelogy but the music stands up very well. The sound is very listenable indeed and needed not be feared. Besides Eager you get some Parker, Serge Chaloff and Dick Twardzik and Bud Powell all previously unissued !!!! I don't know how Uptown does it but long may this line of issues continue. Edited June 27, 2003 by Clunky Quote
pryan Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I agree re: the Eager disc. Still haven't read all of the notes yet. Honestly, when I saw the album I thought it was a double, just because of the overall size. Great notes and sound too. Love that first session with Twardzik... Quote
Clunky Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Chuck any more details about the unreleased Diz and Bird due from Uptown. This sounds very interesting. Quote
Eric Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 (edited) Chuck, Is it still possible to pre-order the Eager and Rouse CDs? Thanks, Eric Edited July 22, 2003 by Eric Quote
