Dan Gould
Very glad to see that the Sweets/Ben album has three unreleased alternates. I don't know if I can wait too long to grab this one ...
Bluerein
Jeez Ed you have a hawkseye!!! Nothing spectacular here I've just reminded MC about the excistance of the Illinois Jackuet EPIC cd and the alternates and sent them a copy for listning. I also reviewed the alt's and came to the same conclusion as MC writes in the producers note.
Ron S
Just pre-ordered this (there goes my no-CD-purchases-until-March pledge ). Is there any chance I'll still get a single-digit numbered set, or should I have gone ahead and pulled the trigger last night before I started this thread? Ed S
Nice work Reinier. Good to see a board member pitching in and getting recognition.

It may not be spectacular to you Reinier but I'm impressed . Preordered this one also. There's no way like an expensive Mosaic to bring in the new year Edited January 4, 2005 by Brad
Son-of-a-Weizen
3 cheers and hip hip hoorays for Mosaic. They'd rate a fourth cheer if they'd start to take PayPal. Geez, even dinky little Platenworm Records in Netherlands takes Paypal.

Not exactly the same thing, but you can use a Paypal credit card that withdraws the money directly from your account.

Bluerein
This time I didn't have to do anything with it.........
montg
The previously unissued Braff session (Disc 2) looks really intriguing. Pee Wee Russell is featured on this and it appears as thoguh there's time for stretching out a bit as the songs are in the 5 to 9 minute range. A lot of Buck Clayton, to which I give a hearty The unknown to me here is Marlowe Morris..never heard of him prior to reading about this set. EKE BBB
The unknown to me here is Marlowe Morris..never heard of him prior to reading about this set. He played piano on "Jammin´ the blues" soundtrack (remember: Prez, Illinois Jacquet, Sweets, Dicky Wells, Kessel...). montg
I am familiar with Jammin' the blues, guess I didn't realize Morris was on it. So he was apparently a veteran by the time of these Columbia recordings.
Harold_Z
Marlowe Morris is also on some of the Jimmy Rushing Vanguards - playing Hammond Organ.

I overlooked the Vanguard connection--I just checked my collection and indeed, there's Marlowe Morris, on the Jo Jones/Basie Vanguard compilation 'too marvelous for words'..time to give it a spin.
