king ubu Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I knew Grey from his postings only, but I'm very, very sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed... Same here. Very sad news. Give my consolations to Elizabeth. ubu Quote
neveronfriday Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Very sad news. I bought some great Teddy Wilson and other CDs from Ken. He'll be missed. My condolences. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 RIP Ken. Nice guy to deal with. We lost a great resource with his passing. I bet I bought more CDs from him than just about anyone. Kevin Quote
robviti Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 very sad news. i had the pleasure of buying cds from ken on many occasions. in fact, there are still a few 60-cent stamps on my bulletin board, stamps i used specifically to sent my payment to him in canada. one of the things i'll remember is feeling frustrated and disappointed when i "missed out" to another member on a title i wanted from him. i'd gladly feel those emotions again if it meant he were still here with us. rest in peace ken. Amen to that! The Teddy Wilson Mosaic I bought from him takes on so much more significance now. RIP grey. And thanks to ElizaBETH for finding the strength to convey such sad news. Quote
John B Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 RIP, grey. I'm really sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family. Quote
tooter Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I had never bumped into grey during my short time on the board but I'm sad I never will. From the look of his posts he was a great guy. I would like to add my condolences, to ElizaBETH and his family, to the many already offered here. Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I don't think I ever bought from Grey-but I always wondered how he could offer sealed imports at such reasonable prices. But a nice, knowledgeable guy who'll be missed. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I too bought a few sets from Ken. Very organized guy, it seemed. I remember on my second purchase asking if he was living at the same address as I had noted from my first purchase of one year prior. He laughed (in that virtual way), answered "Yes", complimented me on keeping good records and then asked if I was at my same address, noting my address within his reply. Two at-least-slightly neurotic guys, it would seem. See ya later, Ken. Quote
sidewinder Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Truly sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed reading his contributions on both this board and the BNBB, a real enthusiast. RIP Ken. Quote
Aggie87 Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Rest In Peace, Ken. Jim - Perhaps you can send a copy of this whole thread to Elizabeth from all of us, rather than us bombarding their family with numerous emails... (?) Quote
maren Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 This is so sad. ElizaBETH, thanks for reaching out and please know that you have friends here. I'm so sorry for your loss. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Very sorry to hear of his passing. I loose track of what I buy from who around here (and back on the BNBB), but I know I had close to a dozen transactions with Ken over the years. I think he's probably the guy I got my Lee Morgan Mosaic from. R.I.P. Ken, and very best wishes for his family. Quote
ghost of miles Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I always wondered how he could offer sealed imports at such reasonable prices. Yes, I bought several JRVGs off him--he just seemed to be very fair-minded in that regard, much like a used book dealer that we have here in Bloomington, who rarely marks up items even though he knows they're worth more than half-off-list. sheldonm Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 This is indeed very horrible news . I didn't know Ken but had a few music related dealings with him; great guy! May he rest in peace! Quote
Noj Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I echo all of the above shock and sadness, and offer my sincerest condolences to Ken's family. Quote
patricia Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 (edited) It's like a death in the family. If the site exists long enough, most of us will be mourned eventually. In a way, that's comforting. RIP Ken and my sincerest condolances to his family. Edited December 29, 2004 by patricia Quote
Brad Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Patricia, My thoughts exactly. Earlier this year, after missing out on one of Ken's auctions, I started this thread. I hope it's not too maudlin to refer to it again. But I do it in Ken's memory and his time here on this board. Quote

PHILLYQ Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Sad to hear of Ken's passing- I never communicated directly with him(His sales went fast!), but I read a number of his posts and he seemed to be a decent fellow with class and taste- just what we need so much more of these days. My condolences to Elizabeth and any other family. Quote
