Most of these shows feature lossless compression. You will either need to get a plugin for a player like WinAmp or Foobar, or uncompress the files to create regular .wav Most shows are in FLAC format, download the installer and have a go. A few of the shows are in SHN format. Quote

Plus I update my virus scanner on a daily basis. Anyhow, there is way too much up for download there anyway so I have been turning to the really interesting and otherwise unavailable stuff in good sound only. That leaves not much really. Quote

I made a rough and ready recording of it which I've listened to a few times since. It's playing in the background now. How does this show compare to his CDs? "Exile" is available here in the USA. A Lark Ascending Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 The show was a pretty good indication of what Atzmon sounds like on CD. Most of the broadcast was made up from the most recent 'MusicK' which is excellent but highly polemical. 'Exile', despite its uncompromising political message, has more in the way of improvisation; I'd recommend it as a first point of call. The earlier 'Orient House Ensemble' and 'Nostalgico' discs are also excellent - straight quartet discs without the exotic instruments more recently added. He does some great twisting of jazz standards like 'Footprints'. Quote

Strange vibe as you come by car through the village at night with those giant stones looming over you. Great memories indeed of walking the Ridgeway near there and also checking out Wayland's Smithy and Silbury Hill. Reminder to self to get back up there one Sunday.. Must have been heartbreaking to have lived there when they did the original excavations (1920s?) and half of the village was totally destroyed to uncover the stones. Awesome to think that the original extent was considerably larger than what is there now, that it preceded Stonehenge by millenia and also dwarfed it. Edited January 22, 2005 by sidewinder Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I have vague childhood memories of stopping there for a picnic lunch on the way down to Cornwall (where my father comes from). When I was 17-18 I lived just south of Swindon so it again kept whizzing by on journeys. Later I got to spend longer there under my own steam. I spent a few hours there last May after the Bath Festival. Went for a walk up onto one of the ridges and then round to West Kennet Longbarrow and Silbury Hill. Very evocative. Probably a bit too touristy now to actually live in but you don't have to go far to be in the middle of nowhere! Quote
