bluesForBartok Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I just received a mosaic order and there was a little card advertising this new company making shirts w/ Blue Note artists on them. Stuff looks ok not as cool as that other company (the name escapes me). I hadn't seen mention of this on the board so I just wanted to pass it along. Here is the link Quote
doubleM Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Those are very cool. I'm trying to put together some t-shirts with my drawings on them, but the companies that I work for have troubles converting my stuff on to a black shirt. Maybe I'll send them a link to these guys' site. Thanks BFB! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 bluesForBartok said: Here is the link Quite a good selection, and much better (for my tastes) than the jazz shirts that Gear has (I think that's the company). Also, make sure you scroll up and down the whole list of names too --- cuz there's more names then just what's shown on the screen at any one time. Also, they're sorted by alpha, but I think there were one or two down at the bottom that were out of order - so if you're looking for somebody in particular, scroll through the whole list. Quote
jazzbo Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 That KD is quite cool! I like Jackie 2 better than Jackie 1. . . . Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Does anybody know how to clip/capture that Gottlieb image for a desktop? I'd pay for that awesome pic. Quote
ADR Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Those are some cool ass t-shirts. Gotta get myself at least 2 or 3. ADR Quote

mgraham333 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 (edited) I'd expect $28 for a sweatshirt. It's a little steep for a t-shirt. They are quite nice though. Thanks for the scroll tip Rooster. I would've missed that. I spend all my time building corporate sites/web apps that I sometimes miss those "cool" design elements. Tjazz Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 If you click on the Woody Shaw, you can see some LPs in the background. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 The shirts look very nice, but $28 is pretty steep for a t-shirt. Gearink.com has very good ones for a lot less and when you buy three they ship for free. Quote

Straying off-topic here, but that Gottlieb pic and MANY more, are archived here: Library of Congress Gottlieb Archive One of my favorite sites on the web. Quote
Spontooneous Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) Sorry, folks, But anyone who puts out a "Thelonius" Monk t-shirt isn't getting my money. Edited December 18, 2004 by Spontooneous Quote
doubleM Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 I'll have some t-shirts out very soon for much less than $28. You guys will be the first to know!!! Quote

robviti Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) is it me, or does anyone else prefer jazz t-shirts that don't have the artist's name emblazoned on the front? i know who kenny dorham is, and if someone doesn't, i'd rather they approach me and say, "cool shirt, who is that?" rather than seeing the name and say, "who is kenny dorham?" it's a small point i'll admit, it's just my preference. of course, the big reason (literally) i'll never order from these guys is that they don't carry size xxl. like my music, i like a little free space in my clothing. if i was into narrow constriction, i'd listen to pop. btw, who the hell buys a small? No, jazzshrink, it's not just you and I'm not sure it's such a small point. I wonder how many other folks (besides you & I) feel this way and how this impacts sales. My gearink Clifford shirt is cool because his name tucks into my pants! And in the case of my Coltrane shirt, "TRANE" runs vertically (and relatively discreetly) to the side of his image. Re. the shirts mentioned in this thread, I've purchased the Jackie McLean and Sonny Clarke -- though would have balked if the artist name font was as gawdy/corny as the Western-style used on the Hank Mobley and a couple of others. What a shame, I'd probably buy a couple more of these were it not for this issue. Maybe these shirts are being marketed to younger folks who perceive this "retro" style font as attractive. Yech!!! robviti Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 not me. like my jazz collection, i seem to be constantly expanding! Quote
James Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I just edited my post to delete a comment re. the undersizing of these shirts. After the first wash, and wearing it for a day it has stretched back out to the proper fit. Quote
