i cannot believe this is a debate.

the silver is ok-nothing special. it moves a bit. but nothing spectacular.

the hancock is a beautiful and sometimes dark album with interesting instrumentation.

Ha! I've been avoiding this thread because the whole time I thought it was about "The Prisoner", the 60s TV show! I thought to myself, "Well I've never even heard of, much less seen 27th Man, so I'll just stay out of that discussion."

I'm a moron.

No opinions about SAN FRANCISCO?... Bobby Hutcherson?... Harold Land?... Mickey Roker?... the funky tune that US3 made into LAZY DAY?... Anyone?... Anyone?

Goood one Jim!

Looks as if Horace will win that race to me! :P

No doubt about it. He's been drinking all that health food and doing all those spiritual exercises from "United States..." :)

THE PRISONER arrived today, along with SAN FRANCISCO

THE PRISONER is a bit more out than I usually like but I liked it at first listen which is saying a lot! Most of the time I have to warm up to an album like that. Thanks for the help. Not what I expected from the cover art at all.

SAN FRANCISCO is pretty nice as well. Some good grooves. Hutcherson, Harold Land, Mickey Roker.

I've come to realize that late '60s early '70s Blue Notes can be summarized as follows:

produced by Duke Pearson or Francis Wolff = good, Mizell Brothers = bad.

Words to live by. :)
