Guest akanalog Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 i cannot believe this is a debate. the silver is ok-nothing special. it moves a bit. but nothing spectacular. the hancock is a beautiful and sometimes dark album with interesting instrumentation. Quote
scottb Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 I've decided to get the PRISONER first. Now, on Hutcherson and SAN FRANCISCO! Quote
minew Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Ha! I've been avoiding this thread because the whole time I thought it was about "The Prisoner", the 60s TV show! I thought to myself, "Well I've never even heard of, much less seen 27th Man, so I'll just stay out of that discussion." I'm a moron. I am not a number! I'm a free man! Quote

scottb Posted December 17, 2004 Author Report Posted December 17, 2004 (edited) No opinions about SAN FRANCISCO?... Bobby Hutcherson?... Harold Land?... Mickey Roker?... the funky tune that US3 made into LAZY DAY?... Anyone?... Anyone? Edited December 17, 2004 by scottb Quote

Leeway Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 Goood one Jim! Looks as if Horace will win that race to me! No doubt about it. He's been drinking all that health food and doing all those spiritual exercises from "United States..." Quote
scottb Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 (edited) THE PRISONER arrived today, along with SAN FRANCISCO THE PRISONER is a bit more out than I usually like but I liked it at first listen which is saying a lot! Most of the time I have to warm up to an album like that. Thanks for the help. Not what I expected from the cover art at all. SAN FRANCISCO is pretty nice as well. Some good grooves. Hutcherson, Harold Land, Mickey Roker. I've come to realize that late '60s early '70s Blue Notes can be summarized as follows: produced by Duke Pearson or Francis Wolff = good, Mizell Brothers = bad.
