clifford_thornton Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Oh shit. Hopes are high that he pulls through okay. Quote
.:.impossible Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Oh man. So sorry to hear this. Friends of Fred, I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. Please share any further details. So sorry. Quote
AndrewHill Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Man, this is terrible news. Unfortunately, this looks really grim. Hoping for a miracle that he'll pull through. Quote
brownie Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I hate this kind of news Get well very soon, Fred! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Indeed. I have very fond memories of watching him play (or watching him watch while seated at the bar) at the old Velvet Lounge. What a nice and unassuming gentleman. Hope that once he pulls through he's able to continue playing. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Friends and fans should heed this:Fred Quote

Guest Bill Barton Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks for that link, Chuck. My best wishes go out to Fred Anderson for a full and speedy recovery. What an amazing musician... Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks for the details, sad news indeed, he was scheduled to play last thursday with Drake and Parker, but he was replaced by Kidd Jordan without much of an explanation. Tonight during the gig, Ken Vandermark informed us that he was in a Hospital but without giving details either about his condition. Get well Mr Anderson. Quote
ejp626 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) No real updates in this Trib piece, though the outlook (from my reading) seems somewhat grimmer: http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/ct-live-0622-jazz-20100621,0,213782.column The piece mostly focuses on what might happen to the Velvet Lounge down the road. Sounds like this is the year to go to the After Fest gigs if you are so inclined. I'll have to try to fix the link later. The editor is acting all funky. Edited June 21, 2010 by ejp626 Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 About 10 days ago, family and friends asked for a stop of press/blog/internet speculation. No "death watch" was the goal. Can we please try to respect that here? Quote
