Claude
Well, we don't know what will happen with Concord in charge, but it's certain that OJCs will be more expensive than the current 5.85€ sale. But the number of titles at jazzshop24.de is quite limited compared to the complete Fantasy catalogue, and some CDs (the "limited edition" series) are 9.85€

But the number of titles at jazzshop24.de is quite limited compared to the complete Fantasy catalogue, and some CDs (the "limited edition" series) are 9.85€ ← those are about 19$ in retail/14$Street price in the US... so even those are a bargain. Claude
I meant the limited edition reissue series, which is $15 list price, $11-13 street price. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=2123328

Guest
i just got the new catalog in the mail (without requesting it)-- as expected, it was drastically cut back. its not concord + prestige greatest hits (a la workin w/ the miles q, etc). a travesty for american jazz
ghost of miles
Anybody talked to Cynthia Patterson at Fantasy lately? Sounds like the axe has finally fallen on an outstanding catalogue.
Jim R
I picked these up at Virgin in Times Square. Just in case you're not aware of it, that Farmer CD has some labeling (track sequence) errors. At least I assume it still does... I alerted them back in 1996, and I don't think they ever fixed it. Guy Berger
Sigh... made a huge order at alldirect for $225. Not everything I wanted was in stock but I got way too much stuff regardless. Guy

If the cd is programmed like the lp, Autumn Nocturne should be number 1 and the rest bumped down.
Jim R
Apparently not, Chuck. Here's the actual running order on the CD: 1. Confab in tempo 2. I'll take romance 3. Wisteria 4. Autumn nocturne 5. Soft shoe 6. I've never been in love before 7. I'll walk alone 8. Gone with the wind 9. Alone together 10. Pre amp Edit: BTW, if anybody who has bought this more recently than I (Fantasy sent me what was supposed to have been a corrected version in 1998, so it's been awhile) has a disc that doesn't correspond to the above list, then maybe they've fixed it... Did you folks ask for that recently? Via e-mail? I was on their mailing list for decades, but I don't get any mailings from them anymore (and they haven't answered any of my e-mail attempts over the last couple of years). Jim R
Thanks GA. It's actually been years since they sent me anything. Not sure why, unless it was because I was spending thousands of dollars on their CD's in stores instead of ordering from the company. BTW, regarding this track listing mess on "Early Art", I forgot to mention that the track timings on the CD booklet (and on the tray card as scanned above) are wrong. In case it helps anybody in sorting it all out (and in case I made an error regarding the Farmer compositions that I was otherwise unable to cross-check), here are the run times on my CD: 1. 3:58 2. 5:01 3. 4:35 4. 4:08 5. 5:03 6. 3:52 7. 3:59 8. 4:13 9. 4:00 10. 3:

Guy Berger
Guy, tell us what you got! Sigh... I'm still pissed off at myself about this binge. I tried to be picky too... and didn't even touch the Coleman Hawkins catalogue... Also tried to avoid stuff that's received 20K remasters since I figure those are popular enough to stay in the catalogue. If some of those Art Peppers I want go OOP I'll go postal. Doesn't Concord tend to keep most of their own discs in print? Regardless, I'll probably pick up the rest of those Yusef Lateef and Booker Ervin discs this weekend - I only have three of each from the Fantasy catalog. I can't tell you all how angry I am at myself for not just downloading the whole catalog back in the unlimited days of emusic...
