"definately" vs. "definitely"

One thing that gets me is the switching of "here" and "hear."

Here: A description of where something is.

Hear: What your ears do.

I laughed quite a bit reading this thread. I always think of myself as a stickler for proper usage. I know I can't spell worth a damn and even programmed my computer at work to auto-correct my commonly misspelled words.

One way I was taught to remember certain word spellings; Break them up and pronounce them differently in your head before you spell it out.
