Chuck Nessa Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Wasn't the plan for a live album? Or did it turn out that you didn't have enough topnotch stuff? I'd guess they have tons of good live material but they think another studio date will best represent the Organissimo they want to sell. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Wasn't the plan for a live album? Or did it turn out that you didn't have enough topnotch stuff? I'd guess they have tons of good live material but they think another studio date will best represent the Organissimo they want to sell. It's more of a matter of having lots of nice live stuff, but not much actual NEW tunes on those recordings. The live stuff is mainly tunes from the first two records and various covers. We don't want to do a record of covers (for numerous reasons, but the one is that it's expensive as far as copyrights are concerned) and there wasn't enough new original stuff to fill a disc. The second set of our gig at the Firefly back in April was really nice and is filmed as well. I need to go through the footage and see if it is good enough for a live DVD. Again, mostly covers, but we stretch out so there's only about 7 tunes in the hour-long set including that 15+ minute version of Pumpkin Pie that's on YouTube. I have been talking to my videographer about filiming the next Baker's date in January (on the 26th). We'll see what happens then. I also have 3 years worth of week-long gigs with Arno recorded that I haven't gone through yet. So there's plenty of live stuff in the "vault". Quote
.:.impossible Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 I, for one, would love to see it. Just a hunch, but I don't think Wilmington NC is on the short list of East Coast tour venues. Then again, The Duo plays here once a year, Charlie Hunter's new band came through a couple of months ago as well... Until you make it down here, I'd love to see some footage of you operating that b-3. Is there really any good footage of a b-3 player in full stride? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Have you seen the three videos on Youtube? Quote
.:.impossible Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 Yes. Great stuff! As much as I like the idea of youtube, I just don't like watching video at my desk. For one, the screen is too small, then there's the resolution. The more I think about it, the more I think footage of organissimo is a good idea. Really, how much b-3 footage is out there. Most people do not understand what you have to do to get that thing going. And we haven't even started talking about Joe and Randissimo. Quote
.:.impossible Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 I am sitting here with coffee watching the Animation video on youtube though... I don't know. Too much clutter. I love the concept, but it really isn't geared for a viewing experience. It is more geared for a clicking experience. Hey, I'll take what I can get! Quote
