king ubu Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Though I'd let those among who are interested know of two upcoming broadcasts on SWR2: Thursday, December 9, 19:05-20:15 Paul Bley live in Stuttgart (with Oregon?) In 1974 Bley appeared at a "Treffpunkt Jazz" concert in Stuttgart. First he playe solo, then performed together with Oregon. I don't know if only the solo parts will be broadcasted, or if also some of the music with Oregon will be heard. They announce this only as "Paul Bley in Stuttgart", but the description mentions Oregen (as I do above). Friday, December 10, 23:00-24:00 Medesky, Martin & Wood live at "Enjoy Jazz" Recorded live at Alte Feuerwache Mannheim, October 12, 2004 (link to "enjoy jazz" website)) Quote

But I hardly can remember if Bley sat in with Oregon - I do remember Glen Moore accompanied Bley on his set, which worked very well. The original broadcast had some Oregon numbers as well. Quote

When working on the Basie discography I got some listings from SWR2 - six or seven recordings they did of "Treffpunkt Jazz"-concerts from 1967-1980. I got photocopies of their original typewriter-notes, and they have a very chaotic system of taking hand-written notes on those files, indicating which tracks they have used for which broadcast... Seems they put together something different for each broadcast. ubu Quote
