BruceH Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Has anybody heard? Mosaic says they finally got approval from Sony to do a Woody Herman Columbia Sessions box, First & Second Herds (plus Woody's pop vocals w/the Four Chips and studio orchestras). It will be a five-disc set and will supposedly set a lot of discographical errors straight. They have it scheduled for sometime next year. Good news for me, as I always thought the earlier Mosaic Herman box was rather limited. Quote
JSngry Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 This is all foreplay. I'll bust MY nut when they do a Herman Phillips set. Quote
Clunky Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 What is going on- I though CD sales were on the slide, is this a take on best defense is offence ? B) B) Quote
sidewinder Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Looks like they are on such a roll of late that they'll be bringing back the vinyl issues next ........... Quote
Out2Lunch Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 They will be releasing the vinyl set of the Miles Davis Blackhawk Live sometime in July Quote
Ed S Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 This is fabulous news. I've been hoping for more big band material for a while. I can't wait. Quote
Brad Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 How would y'all rate the Mosaic they did with the material on the one coming out. A lot of those vocals turned me off. Regarding the Phillips set, I have the Phillips cd Verve put out last year "The Swing'inest Band Ever" and if that was any indication, it would be a great set. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 All the Philips material I've heard has been knockyoursocksoff burnin' fantastic, so a box would be somethin'! Quote
