pryan Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I know there was a thread about beer on the BNBB, but since those archives are impossible to access (except for those people who have saved certain topics), I figured I'd start one here. Let the world know what your preferred brew is. Personally I'd have to side with JazzMoose, who is a fan of Moosehead beer. I bought a twelve a couple of weeks ago, after not drinking Moose for a while, and lets just say it disappeared quickly. I didn't realize how much I liked it. Moosehead is a fine golden colored lager, brewed in the province of New Brunswick (which is on the East coast of Canada). Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I haven't had a beer since around 1985. I just stopped drinking alcohol as it was making me feel crappy. I could try one again, I suppose, but these weight-building potables are best avoided. Loved Moosehead beer in my day, though I was more of a Molson-Man. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Speaking of Molsons, does anyone know if they still make their delectable Export Ale? Quote
pryan Posted May 30, 2003 Author Report Posted May 30, 2003 I'm pretty sure they still make Ex. If you like Molson beer AND dry beers, you might want to check out Molson Dry; it has a slightly higher alcohol content too (5.5% in Canada) and it tastes pretty good. Quote
Sundog Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Imagine that, I'm listening to Dexter Gordon playing "Misty" sipping an Anchor Steam and I run across a beer thread. Coincidence? No offense guys, I've never been able to develop a taste for Canadien beers. Besides the aformentioned Anchor I rather spend my money on German and Czech varieties such as Spaten, Dortmunder Union or Pilsner Urquell. I've also been known to settle for an English variety occassionally, perhaps a Samuel Smith brand or Bass Ale. Occasionally, time permitting I'll even whip up a batch of my own Cherry Stout. With fresh Michigan cherries of course! Unfortunately, I can't drink Sierra Nevada Pale Ale anymore (allergies). That one used to be a favorite. Cheers! Quote
J Larsen Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 There's a beer brewed in Portland, OR called Hair of the Dog that is highly, highly recommended. I've tried finding it on the east coast with no luck at all. Fortunately, I'll be making a trip to the NW in a few weeks. I'm trying to figure out how many cases I can take back on the plane. Just to put my taste in context, other favorites include Salvator, Anchor Steam, Liberty Ale, Sierra Nevada, and Duvel. Quote

Dr. Rat Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Anyone know a beer called Sezoen. Belgian ale, I beleive. --eric Quote
sal Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 My favorite beer also happens to be a lesser known brand....Bell's out of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Their beer tastes so good, it should be illegal. Quote

Sezoen is a beer, which I think riffs on the Saison style you mention, but isn't quite the same, but I don't know. I bought it at a distributer in Easton PA, had one and went back and bought the other case he had. After drinking my 48, I never saw the stuff again. --eric Quote
king ubu Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Leffe (I currently prefer the Radieuse, but all four of them are good! Or: Then there's this one: And this: A good one I have only come to know recently: (Grimbergen) And a last one: Then there's Guiness, of course, and there's some other good Irish ales... but mainly my love goes to Belgian beer, as you may guess by now... ubu Quote
