Leeway Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 With Alice Coltrane back on the scene, I was wondering if anyone had any views on her duet project with Carlos Santana? This one is new to me. What's it like? Any good? Quote
BFrank Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 I never heard that one, actually. Bill Laswell did one of his remixes with it combined with "Love, Devotion & Surrender" (the Santana/McLaughlin project) Divine Light: Reconstructions & Mix Translation - Bill Laswell Carlos Santana & Bill Laswell Quote
jazzbo Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Okay, I'm old enough to have bought that Illuminations lp back in the day. I really like it. IF you like Alice's harp playing and IF you like her writing and arranging for an orchestra, this will be enjoyable. I like the Laswell recreation as well, but Illuminations deserves to be reissued with additional material. I have a British cd now that is good. . . but doesn't stack up to the Santana reissues from the U. S. of the past four years. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 I had this when it came out in the mid 70s. Didn't care for it and sold it. It'd be interesting to hear again now. My ears might hear differently. Quote
