Sad news - Mark Ledford, only 44

Mark Ledford was full of music, and an amazing performer live. Some contexts he performed in may not have been precisely my cup of tea, but he was always a joy to hear and watch. I was shocked to hear this past Monday that he died of a heart attack at age 44. Didn't see anything else online until today at this PMG discussion page.

I saw him a few times with Metheny. Joisey guy if memory serves.

I spoke to Joe Locke on Monday when he heard the news of Mark's death; he is devestated. Joe and Mark made two great frecordings with Joe's 'Storytelling' group; 'Storytelling' and 'State Of Soul' that are very dear to Joe and a fitting legacy to Ledford's many talents.

This is pretty shocking news. Just the other day I was wondering about Ledford and what he had been working on of late. Saw him live with Metheny, as has been mentioned he always gave 110% in performance. RIP...

I was shocked by the news too. Blamires and Led were the most fun to watch. I had a feeling Pat was gonna use Mark again for something in the future.
