Kalo Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 In my experience (of listening to various forms of discs) Conte always came to play. I'll keep an eye out for this one. Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Thanks so much Chas, that WAS a huge help!!! With that catalogue number I was not only able to figure out the catalogue number for 'Little Band, Big Jazz', but the 24-bit remastered mini-LP sleeve version of 'Sincerely, Conte' as well which I'd been searhing for! Hank Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 OliverB Sounds like you may have already found it, but my copy of Little Band-Big Jazz was issued by P-Vine in 1998, distributed by BMG. Catalog #: PVCP-8740. 24bit remastered. Quote
BruceH Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 I'm also going to keep an eye out-----this album sounds very, very good. Quote
sidewinder Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 (edited) Nice to see mention of this fine album. Had never heard it but fortunate last week to pick up a pristine UK LP issue on the 'Eros' label (part of Redifussion) so no problems with crap Crown vinyl. Sound on the LP is pretty damn good, to say the least. I'm struck by just how consistently good Conte was and how untypical his style was for an LA-based player. Bits of Lee Morgan and Kenny Dorham in his style but really he was his own stylist. Still playing superbly well back in 1999 too, and with infectious enthusiasm, when I was able to catch him live over several gigs (with Bud Shank, Jack Montrose and others).
