Soulstation1 Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 YOU GOT ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE....... Quote
catesta Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 On Saturday or Sunday, I'm going to try for the first time ever to smoke/cook a brisket. Not a huge one, maybe around 5-6 lbs. The barbecue bible says it should take about 6 hours. Quote
Free For All Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 It's about time we fired this thread back up. I've got spring break this week, so I'm going to do some grilling. No snow here! I really like when asparagus starts to be in season and much cheaper. Love to grill it! Also cooking up some chicken and corn. My apologies to my friends up north (although when I lived in Chicago I grilled year 'round). Quote
papsrus Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Haven't read through the entire thread, but has anyone BBQ'd lobster tails? ... Wrap them in foil with some butter, maybe some lemon juice or whatever else you want for flavor, and cook 'em shell down. Here's a recipe. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 anyone try the beef - tips over at famous dave's bbq? had some at a christmas party and they were tasty..... Quote
Free For All Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 I have to say that (for a chain restaurant) Famous Dave's is not too bad. Quote
catesta Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Yeah, it's not all that bad. First time I ever had it was in Westbury LI. Quote
papsrus Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Yum! That sounds delicious! Yes, they are really, really ... and I mean really tasty. (Isn't everything that's cooked on a grill?). My experience with seafood in general is that it is much more flavorful when cooked on a grill wrapped in foil (where your special coatings, etc., can percolate away). Corn on the cob is another one (although you have to pre-cook it). Wrap it in foil with butter and slow cook it. MAN! ... Quote
Free For All Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Beef and chicken kabobs and grilled asparagus tonight. Just got a Weber Q grill and am really lovin' it! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Nasty hubcaps. Should at least be chrome. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Throw away the grillin' part, and you've got yourself a good start on a hubkaphone! Quote
Free For All Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Latest acquisition..... Time to smoke some pork butt! All I need is some friends to feed............. Quote
Chas Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Latest acquisition..... Time to smoke some pork butt! All I need is some friends to feed............. With those two signs on the thing , the only butt that's gonna be smoked is your own ! Quote
catesta Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) Latest acquisition..... Time to smoke some pork butt! All I need is some friends to feed............. Damn dude, you're going all out. I've been thinking about getting a smoker for a long time. I have to use a gas grill with smoker pouches now, works fine but you can never capture the same flavor as as with a true smoker. I think I will sell one of the two grills I have and follow your lead. Edited June 1, 2008 by catesta Quote
Free For All Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 I've always wanted one of these bad boys... ...,but I don't have the space for it, and I usually don't cook large amounts of food, so it would be way more than I need. That little Weber smoker is much better than the cheaper Brinkman version. I can smoke short-term projects (like chicken) on my Weber kettle, but I want to learn to make killer pulled pork, ribs and beef brisket, so I need a real smoker. Quote
catesta Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 That is exactly what I want, I'll make space for it. I've got ribs down solid, I think. I use a simple dry rub and only mop them a little towards the end. They come out great on the grill with indirect heat after about an hour and a half, but like you I'd love to smoke them bad boys the way it should be. Plus, try doing a brisket in a gas grill and you use up three + hours of propane. Quote
catesta Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Free, did you smoke anything this weekend? Quote
AndrewHill Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Get together at Holy Ghost's: ribs, hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Report Posted June 14, 2008 What time is the throw down? Quote
