Guy Berger Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 Dampier is an interesting character -- a perennial underachiever who put up great numbers last year because he was up for a new contract. Now that he's signed with Dallas he's back to mediocrity. Dunno about "2nd best center", or even "8th best", but when motivated he can play pretty darn well and he does help Dallas quite a bit in more conventional situations. Thanks But....... I watched him closely after Dirk called him out and he just doesn't look that good. Sorry, maybe it is because I have seen too many good ones, Nate The Great, Wilt, Russ, Willis, Kareem, David, Robert Parish, Wes Unseld, George Miken, etc. Hell, Luc Longley and Bill Cartwright played a better game than Eric. Hell, even Ray Felix was a lot better than Eric. Sorry man, I just don't buy it. He may improve and that would be nice but for right now, he needs to shut up and learn the position. Dampier is not going to improve (or work hard) until it's time for his contract to be renegotiated. He's the kind of guy who you need to hire on a one-year basis. Guy Quote
rachel Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 time is running out for the chumpions GO PACERS!!!! OK, we're f***ed now... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 15, 2005 Author Report Posted May 15, 2005 When 'Sheed makes a guarantee... he means it. Pistons played like they are supposed to play today. Chauncey was devastating. GO PISTONS!!!! Quote

I think she's saying that with your poor track record for picking games, if you say "GO PACERS", that means they're gonna lose. Which they did. And they will tonight, too! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 pistons will win tonight suns will win the next one sonics win in sa next game Quote

BruceW Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 pistons will win tonight suns will win the next one sonics win in sa next game Nice try! The Pistons will win tonight. I guaran'sheed it! Yeah, We all see through that now..... Your picks are bad but trying to use that in order to get YOUR wins just is not going to work. You should know by now the PISTONS are going to move on to the next round. I do think SA might be in trouble though. The Suns just forgot to pass the ball, got to caught up in watching Nash hitting everything he threw up. B-) Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 i can't wait for the heat/chumpions series some people will be in for a little surprise Quote
BruceW Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 As much as I love the Pistons, let us wait until they get to the Conference Final first. Having said that...... If it is Pistons vs. Heat...... you will indeed be surprised and hurt. Pistons in 6 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 18, 2005 Author Report Posted May 18, 2005 The Pistons are putting the hurt on the Pacers. Only 11 Pacer points in the third quarter?! Ouch! What's up with Jermaine O'Neal claiming that Ben Wallace isn't that good of a defensive player? He's certainly schoolin' your ass right now, Jermaine! Quote

The quote, I believe, was that Ben wasn't as effective a defender one-on-one. He's tough under the basket in team play. Quote

He's tough under the basket in team play. I see. But that's the difference between the Pistons and so many other "teams". They play team basketball. One-on-one doesn't work with them. Quote
Guy Berger Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 I do think SA might be in trouble though. Disagree -- if they lose this series, it will be one of the most monumental choke jobs of all time. Granted, they choked to the Lakers last year, but the Lakers were a MUCH MUCH better team than the Sonics. I'll go on a limb and predict the Spurs will win the next two. I will grow a Ben Wallace fro if the Sonics win in 6. The Suns just forgot to pass the ball, got to caught up in watching Nash hitting everything he threw up. B-) I guess Joe Johnson's absence has hurt them a lot. Come back Joe! Guy Quote

Aggie87 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 Ain'y gonna happen. Sonics are playing like a team on a mission. And they play as a TEAM. Duncan looked shell shocked on Sunday. Sonics in 7 BABY!!!!!!!!! Funny how everyone sees things differently. I (and Popovich for that matter) thought that Duncan was about the only one that came to play on Sunday. And that game on Sunday was the first one against the Spurs that I thought the Sonics actually played like a team in. I think the Spurs are substantially more talented than the Sonics, though the playoffs are all about execution. The Spurs didn't execute on Sunday. They did in the first game in Seattle, but Duncan didn't get a good shot off at the end of the game. Otherwise they win that game. And I don't give Seattle any credit on that last shot, it was simply a bad shot by Duncan. I think the Spurs will come out, play hard, and win tonight, and will win the series in either 6 or 7 games.
