JSngry Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 TOTALLY kickass trio set w/Milt Buckner & Tony Crombie, live @ Ronnie Scott's from April of 1971. Quote
JSngry Posted October 11, 2004 Author Report Posted October 11, 2004 Should I take that as a "no"? Quote

JSngry Posted October 11, 2004 Author Report Posted October 11, 2004 Seriously, though, I looked around a few places to see if it had been on CD, and counldn't find it. But geez, is that just about the only Black Lion thing that's not been on CD? Wierd... Quote
dsgtrane Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 For what it's worth, AMG does not list a CD issue of it, only LP. Quote
Jim R Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 For what it's worth, AMG does not list a CD issue of it, only LP. Probably Jack Squat. Black Lion, eh? For some reason, I can't recall coming across that one (anybody got a jpg?). Speaking of recordings from Ronnie's Scott's, has anybody ever heard one with good sound quality? Maybe I've just had bad luck, but I'm happy when I get one that has decent sound. I've got a Wes, a couple of Sarahs, and a J.J. that are okay, and I remember dumping a few others (Getz was one, I think) due to awful sound. And still speaking of R.S.'s, anybody bought any of the "Harkit" CD's? That's the label for the J.J. I have, and I've seen a couple of others listed by those bloody sods (aka bastids) in Chicago. JSngry Posted October 11, 2004 Author Report Posted October 11, 2004 And Milt Buckner gives musical vulgarity the good name we all know it should have already had! Seriously - the cat's bass lines are nasty in a way that doesn't exist anymore, and we are all poorer for that. Quote
