Spontooneous Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I never meant to lie about my age, but three times since my recent 45th birthday I've caught myself telling people I'm 44. I'm in denial. Quote
Dr. Rat Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 (edited) Old enough to retire this year. How old is that in France? 37? Coincidentally, that's my age. --eric Edited October 10, 2004 by Dr. Rat Quote

Son-of-a-Weizen Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 45 next month... Same here. Shall we form a club? Okay. Johnny's not allowed in... Let's not be too hasty here! We'll need someone to staff the bar & rotate out the empty kegs. Quote
tooter Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I thought of doing a survey of members who declare their birthdays to see where I (66) fitted in with the average but gave up after the first two centegenarians. Quote

maren Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I was in college in Madison when Chuck Nessa sold records there... I was in graduate school there, and met Chuck when I went by the record store and was amazed by the Art Ensemble window display, lps by Roscoe, Lester, et al. Asking who did it, I met Chuck. (Didn't know who it was I met until telling this story online, and Chuck said it was him). Caught the AEC performing in Spring '72 at the Newman (Roman Catholic) Center just off campus. I saw some great things at the Newman Center (including a reading by poet John Berryman) but I remember I had some school performance or rehearsal (classical) I couldn't get out of that AEC night... did see Cecil Taylor quite a bit while he was teaching there (including that very semester, I think). Christiern Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I seem to be the only one in the seventh category--where I will remain for another seven years. Quote

Chuck used to run a record-store operation here in Bloomington, too. There's a guy here who hosts and performs in a weekly jazz gig here who still talks of his awe as a teenager at going in to buy AEC records, and how Chuck brought them to B-town for a concert. Quote
