king ubu Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I could go see him in trio with Makaya Ntshoko (d) and Vitold Rek (b). This is the "Peter Niklas Wilson Memorial Tour". Anyone seen that band? Haven't heard Tchicai live, and only on very few CDs ("Ascension", a Dorge disc). ubu Quote
Dave James Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 He was here in Portland a couple of months ago with his trio. Not sure if it's the same two guys you mention, as I wasn't able to attend. I do have a friend who was there who said it was a very solid, if very sparsely attended show. He did get me an autographed Tchicai CD, which is a nice addition to my collection. He also said Tchicai was very approachable. They spoke for some time. Up over and out. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 There was a side-interview with him in TapeOp along with the RVG interview. I keep meaning to type that one up, too. It's a lot shorter! Quote
king ubu Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 Thanks, this pushes me over the edge, I suppose Quote
Joe Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Makaya Ntshoko = superb drummer, originally from South Africa. Best known for his association with Dollar Brand / Abdullah Ibrahim. Quote

I will report. ubu Quote
