Anybody pick this one up yet? I'm eyeing it, but haven't pulled the trigger. It's a live solo album, mainly covers, with a 20 minute version of "Paranoid Android". I'd be curious to hear any first impressions...

I've heard a solo "Paranoid Android" from Mr. Mehldau before (on a promo-only CD, which also included an exclusive solo performance by Mehldau of an Elliot Smith tune).

Mehldau's take on Radiohead really words for me. In fact, I prefer the solo-piano version of "Paranoid Android" that I already have on the promo (I think it was recorded back in about 1999 or so), over the version on Largo.

I'm sure I'll pick this one up one of these days.

To me Paranoid Android was the least satisfying track on LiT. I really dig his Monk and the Gershwins, especially How long has this been going on. That might be just me, though - maybe I'm a little old fashioned, and prefer to listen to him elaborating on tunes with harmonic structures that I'm used to and appeal to me.

(even if he is reharmonizing)

It has a kind of bootleg feel to it, that's my first impression at least. It's not my fav Mehldau record, a little live solo piano can go along way. Not bad though. LONG tunes.

Its decent, but it sounds very "echo"-y to me. Not a great sound to it. The Paranoid Android was good, but there is a 9 minute version floating around that is much better, in fact it is phenomenal.

Brad for me is simply much more enjoyable in a trio.
