mikeweil Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Red Garland Trio (MV 6) Yeah! This is the only one with the great trio with Paul and Art that isn't on CD. But they do an LP of it, at least in theory. It was "available soon" for a long time. It was available as OJC 224 on LP - strange they did not issue a CD of it. How about the solo LP of Red Garland: MVLP 10 Alone with the Blues / Red Garland Red Garland (p) VGS, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, April 2, 1960 2108 In the Evening 2110 Chains of Love 2112 Wee Baby Blues 2114 Blues in the Closet 2116 Trane's Blues (aka Vierd Blues) 2118 Cloudy 2119 Tired 2122 Sent for You Yesterday This wasn't even reissued on LP! ANyone ever heard it? Quote
Jim R Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 Interesting, Bill. Thanks. Just out of curiosity, was Ray Barretto present on "Misty" and "Uh oh"? He's listed as being at the April 12, 1960 session, but not the Dec. 4, 1959 (Scott's "Soul Searching") session. If he's on those, then perhaps those two tracks were done at the later session? Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 (edited) Jim, Hes not on Misty. The album jacket lists him being on Uh Oh, but if he was in the studio for that take, he was taking a nap. Or he was there wide awake, but his conga was not. Just another little Prestige mystery. Jim R Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Maybe he was playing air congas. Quote

sidewinder Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 What is the 'At Ease With Coleman Hawkins' like? Just saw a Moodsville vinyl of that one the other day and was intrigued. Quote
Jim R Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Nice laid back date with Tommy Flanagan, Wendell Marshall, and Osie Johnson. They do: for you for me for evermore, while we're young, then i'll be tired of you, mighty like a rose, at dawning, trouble is a man, poor butterfly, i'll get by. Quote
