"Yoko Ono Nude" leads to Organissimo?:blink:

"Alyssa Milano" I can sort of understand-there's more than a few pictures of her or references.

But "Yoko Ono Nude"????

(Unfortunately, now I've reinforced the linkage between "Yoko Ono Nude" and "Organissimo". Sorry.)

Maybe this refers more to TEXT than images: A year ago some of us were discussing Yoko Ono's career as an artist in the 60s (Fluxus, anyone?), before she met John. Several of those pieces involved her being nude (or naked, I'm sure both words were used in the discussion).

It was in the Politics forum, triggered by her 2003 announcement that she would (as the thread title put it) "repeat [her] naked appeal for world peace." Somebody mentioned it again somewhere here this summer.

My comments about Yoko Ono in 2003 were also kind of my position statement on the Babe thread, prompted by some eager Babe thread participants being so snotty about Ono:

I think that men who gleefully post pictures of nubile young women could prove that they don't consider those images merely lovely young THINGS by respecting the loveliness, humility and vulnerability of the human form at all ages -- as well as respecting the WILL, the intent and the autonomy of the individual who chooses to reveal herself...

Funnily enough, often when I click the "view online list" link someone (almost always a guest) is looking at that old thread. I always assumed it was a bot, though.

Ultimately, a good call to get rid of that thread. Funny thing is, Jim didn't want a debate and folks, we got an ol' fashioned debate goin' here. Which like most things here will eventually peter out until we get to the next one.

If it's any consolation, googling "yoko ono nude" doesn't come up with an Org.org link in the first 20 pages. There is, however a Stevehoffman.tv link in 7th place... :o
