J.A.W. Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 I thought there was a thread about this album, but it didn't turn up in a search, so here goes: the street date of the CD reissue is September 21, and it can be pre-ordered from CDUniverse for $16.79. CDU also has sound samples. The sound is pretty bad, but there's lots of beautiful playing by Warne (as usual). Quote
jazzbo Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 This has been mentioned in the long Warne Marsh thread. . . . Made me preorder it. . . can't wait for it to ship! Quote

Couldn't find it, weird... Probably due to the fact that I didn't get much sleep last night. :eye: Oh well... Quote
jazzbo Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 That search function can be a hassle when you're fully rested! Turns out it wasn't there after all, David had started a thread about it: Ghost of Miles' thread about the Marsh reissue Quote

My apologies to ghost. Quote
ghost of miles Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 I think I'd better re-name that thread "The Aric Effron Suicide Watch." Quote

Kunstkopfindianer Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Never heard of VSOP Records before?! Did a search for that label on CDUniverse and got the following results: Cooper, Bob - Conte Candolf Quartet $13.89 Marsh, Warne - Live At Dana Point, 1957 (1957) $16.79 Metzger, Jon / Quartet - Spinner $14.79 Paich, Marty - Marty Paich Trio $11.49 Anyone familiar with (one of) these releases? king ubu Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Here's the VSOP catalogue: http://home.earthlink.net/~magnebit/ Of the four you list I have the Candoli and the Paich. The Paich is for those who like laid back and very easy west coast piano (I like it). The Candoli is quite good. ubu Quote
Kunstkopfindianer Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Thanks for the link! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Geez, I got this set from Worlds Records over a month ago. The sound is fine except for some audience "chatter". The playing is first rate and extraneous noise never obscures the music. Quote

The playing is first rate and extraneous noise never obscures the music. I heard it on my computer the first time, so that's probably why it didn't sound very good. I hope to get my copy later this month. Quote
JSngry Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Geez, I got this set from Worlds Records over a month ago. Why is CDU waiting so long to ship? If I'd have known that, I'd have paid the extra bucks to World. Live and learn... Quote
Don Brown Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Like Chuck Nessa I got a copy of this from Ren Brown at World's Records a month or more ago. Overall the sound is fine...except for a noisy audience. Quote
