kulu se mama Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 I recently found a miles davis bootleg on the jazz door record label. if i rembember correctly it was recorded in 1969 and only had 2 cuts "gemini" and 1 other. both songs were extremely long 44+ minutes on 1 and 35+ minutes on the other. the band was wayne shorter, ron carter, herbie hancock and tony williams. it's fairly cheap, but i don't want to pick it up if the sound quality or performances are not any good. any help would be appreciated. I believe it is this gig, 10/27/69 in Rome. Corea, Holland, and DeJohnette replace Hancock, Carter, and Williams. The version you are looking at is truncated by about 10 minutes from the original. Nevertheless, it's an incredible performance by an incredible group and if it weren't otherwise available I'd tell you to pick it up immediately. HOWEVER... sometime in the near future (ie as soon as Guy gets to work) we'll be generating a tree or vine of some sort to distribute about 25 Miles Davis boots, and this complete show will be part of it. So depending on how eager you are to hear it, you might want to wait a month or two. Guy Quote
kulu se mama Posted September 16, 2004 Author Report Posted September 16, 2004 guy, thanks for the information. it's only $7.99, so i will probably pick it up. i can always sell it later. do you know anything about the sound quality of the jazz door release? Quote

Let us know what you think! The collective improv between "Directions" and "This" is a real trip. Guy Edited September 17, 2004 by Guy Berger Quote
medjuck Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 I've got this on Moon Records. It's called Double Image and the 2 long cuts are called Double Image (2nd fragment in the discography linked above) and Gemini (3rd fragment). The minimal information claims it was recorded in Paris but it was probably Rome. Quote
