Shawn Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 When I was 4 years old my favorite song was "Tie a yellow ribbon"...does that count? If I heard it now I'd shoot someone. Quote
kinuta Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 For an athiest, visiting old Buddhist temples. There's something genuinely peaceful and calming going on but I don't know what it is. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 WTF The Captain and Tennille are getting divorced after 30+ years Quote
B. Clugston Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Backyardigans (it's a kids' show that my son loves, but I think I may like it even more than he does and am always disappointed when he says How about Little Bear instead, Dad?) . I love The Backyardigans! There's some great songs on it. Saw The Carpenters mentioned earlier in this thread--Karen Carpenter had a great voice. My guilty pleasure? West, Bruce and Laing. Quote
BruceH Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Adventure Time Come to think, I don't feel guilty about that at all. Quote
BeBop Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I like Buddy Greco! The vocalist or the pianist? A few years ago, I made contact with a Buddy Greco fanatic. He had taken a bunch of Benny Goodman broadcasts and put them onto CD. I had all of it on vinyl, so I bought them as a shortcut (since my vinyl and turntable are in deep storage). Bought them for Wardell Gray. But this cat (seller) was really into Buddy Greco. When I was doing interviews for the WG biography I was working on, I went by his supper club, hoping to catch him for an interview. Edited January 27, 2014 by BeBop Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 I have a half-speed masters edition of the first Boston album that I occasionally crank on the hi-fi...albeit maybe once every few years Quote
Scott Dolan Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 I just heard that song from Lorde that she won a Grammy for last night. I really dig it. Shows how out of the loop I am when it comes to contemporary music. I thought Lorde was a Heavy Metal band. Come to find out it's just a 17 y.o. girl that bizarrely looks twice her age... Quote
xybert Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 About a year ago i caught one of the Twilight movies on TV and got completely hooked, rented the rest of the available films on DVD in quick succession and then saw the final film at the cinema. Adventure Time Come to think, I don't feel guilty about that at all. I love watching Adventure Time with the sound off while listening to music. The visuals are awesome. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Been listening to Men At Work recently Quote
Noj Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Jamiroquai I love the first three albums. I think I recall reading the departure of their bassist resulted in their sudden decline. Lenny Kravitz. Can't help it, high school memories. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Only the first two Lenny Kravitz albums, though. Things really started going downhill with Are You Gonna Go My Way. Quote

Mike Schwartz Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Cold baked beans eaten straight from the tin. I haven't gotten that stoned in quite some time Quote
Sundog Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Jamiroquai I love the first three albums. I think I recall reading the departure of their bassist resulted in their sudden decline. Lenny Kravitz. Can't help it, high school memories. The first three albums are excellent. I bought the recent 2-disc bonus versions of these albums. There's some good live tracks among the bonus material. Funny you mention the bass player since that's one of the main reasons I keep coming back to these albums. The bass lines are wicked good! BeBop, I saw him at a private Las Vegas party about 1985, and he was everything I remembered him to be from the '60s. I suppose I'm not aware of anything particularly unique about his playing, but it was quite good. Quote
Jerry_L Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) I still enjoy listening to and playing some '70's soft rock... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC-oP84mRME The Captain and Tennille? Never heard their cover version, guess it was popular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWRlfu6648U Edited January 29, 2014 by Jerry_L Quote
jazzbo Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Lately my guilty pleasure has been buying and reading the cheap reprints of DC comics I liked when I was kid, before I went off to Africa. So far I've gotten the Challengers of the Unknown (Kirby and Wood for a good portion), Adam Strange and Hawkman. Quote

So far I've gotten the Challengers of the Unknown (Kirby and Wood for a good portion), Adam Strange and Hawkman. I remember liking the Challengers, not sure how it would hold up. I read through a bunch of Marvel reprints a few years back. It was fun, though much of it is obviously ridiculous from a modern adult perspective. Edited January 29, 2014 by Jerry_L Quote
jazzbo Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Challengers is totally ridiculous, but that is it's charm. After a full day with my Mom's dementia even supervillains are fun and strangely rational. Quote
