John B Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 I've looked everywhere I can think of and have had no luck tracking down copies of any of these discs. I would love to be able to buy realistically priced copies, if possible, otherwise would be happy with cdr burns. I have many oop discs I would be willing to tradcopies of in return. The four titles I am looking for are: Special Detail Down to the Wire Demon Chaser Marmalade King thanks for any help! Quote
JohnS Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 John, If you can't find the originals I can burn the first two on your list. Incidentally I just spotted a new or upcoming Hemingway; Devil's Paradise on Clean Feed. Haven't located a source yet. John Quote
John B Posted May 20, 2003 Author Report Posted May 20, 2003 John - I would like to take you up on your offer, until such time as I can locate an original copy of each. Drop me a line and we can work out the details. You can pick up the new disc directly from Gerry on his website Gerry Hemingway $15 plus shipping. I have heard good reviews from a few people who already have this disc. I'll probably be picking it up sooner rather than later. Quote
Peter Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 I could burn Demon Chaser or Marmalade King for you inexchange for a burn of Special Detail. petezwief@gdinet.com Quote
Guest Mnytime Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 John B Your best bet is going to be getting a burn. The only way your going to get actual copies is if you are willing to pay through the nose. All of those recently sold on Ebay from $40-$80. Speaking of excellent Gerry Hemingway OOP recordings. Johnny's Corner Song has been reprinted and anyone that doesn't have that I would suggest getting it. It might be his best. You can get it from Gerry through the site that John B. posted above. Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 (edited) Johnny's Corner Song is also available from OmniTone: http://www.omnitone.com/store/label-auricle.htm Edited May 20, 2003 by J.A.W. Quote
JohnS Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 John, sent you a PM. I'll also strongly recommend Johnny's Corner Song. Quote
John B Posted May 20, 2003 Author Report Posted May 20, 2003 Johnny's Corner Song will be one of my next purchases as soon as I am buying music again. (I just got a big order in and need to chill out for a little while) I have heard great things about this disc and the version of "Toombow" in particular. Quote
Stan C Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I see that shrugs has a copy of the Marmalade King CD for auction on eBay with a couple days left. You never predict the final price though. I've seen a new copy of Special Detail for $12 online a couple months ago. I didn't realize its scarcity. Quote

Guest Mnytime Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I forgot to mention I recall hearing or readings somewhere that Hemmingway told someone that HatHut is either considering or will put out a box of all his recordings as leader on the label. Anyone else know anything about this? Quote

Anyone else know anything about this? I hadn't heard anything but your post prompted me to take a look at his website: "Secondly I am discussion with Hat Hut records regarding the re-release of all four of the Hat Hut recordings of the Quintet as box set (Special Detail, Down to the Wire, Demon Chaser, and The Marmalade King)!!! " no clues as to a definitive date,etc... still, great news! Quote
