Brad Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 It's almost not his birthday anymore and I also don't want to steal the Fanatic's (aka Dan Gould) thunder but Happy Birthday Gene Harris. May you someday get the credit you're due. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Thanks for posting this, Brad. I think I'll listen to one of the tracks on my BFT. Might be Disc 1, Track 5, or maybe Disc 2, Track 1, or is it Track 10? Not really sure anymore ... Quote
Brad Posted September 3, 2004 Author Report Posted September 3, 2004 I can't believe this only one post about GH. Don't you have guys have any shame. This guy was GREAT! Quote
king ubu Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Haven't yet really started exploring his work. The only things I own are "Black Orchid" and that other partially live disc, with additional tracks, and Harris on organ, can't remember teh title. If there was more available on Blue NOte, I might go for it... Happy birthday! ubu Quote
Alon Marcus Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Don't know much of his work except for the three sounds project but he is surely one of the greatest solo pianists. His Maybeck recital is one of my favorite recordings and I recommend it highly. Happy Birthday Gene and thanks for the happy moments on this record. Quote
