Guest ariceffron Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 I NOW KNOW WHAT IT FELT LIKE TO SEE JAMES BROWN IN 66, OR SLY IN 72. SOME OF HIS SONGS EVEN HAD A REAL HEAVY MILES VIBE TO THEM, ONE OF THEM EVEN WAS REMINICENT OF WEATHER REPORT. PRINCES BAND IS THE FUNKIEST BAND BY FAR TOURING THE STATES AS OF NOW. I KNOW YOU GUYS ON HERE ARE ALL UPTIGHT ABOUT YOUR JAZZ AND MIGHT NOT DIG ON PRINCE, BUT I AM TELLING YOU IT WAS MUSICALLY ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS IVE SEEN. HIS BAND WAS SPON ON TIGHT. MACEO WAS THERE, SO WAS CANDY. Quote
Peter Johnson Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 I'm sad I missed his show in Phila. last weekend/week, but I was out of town. Got no argument from me on the front the man's a master producer--his records kick. Wish I'd been there. Damn, Philly to Seattle? Who organized that tour? Quote
jack Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I have heard and read many times over that Prince's Live Tour is out of this world. I will find out tonight in Sacramento. I 'have' to take my goddaughters, but I am really looking forward to this. Quote
king ubu Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Don't have a chance to see him live, but: ubu Quote

I think the Avatar Jennifer is pretty darn cute myself. I think Zora and Jennifer make a pair of cuties! (can you imagine how cute Zora will be at age 4 when she's already so kissable now!) As far as how long that site is up, I've wondered the same thing which is why I'm burning up my cable modem as we speak....(broadband totally rocks, too...) Quote

WD45 Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I saw him back in June back at home in the Twin Cities. That band was more than tight. Entertainers, through and through. And hey, there was some mean sax going on... Quote
RainyDay Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Hey Ubu: Is that your gallery? I love that painting. I have a friend who turned me on to California expressionism, Diebenkorn, Bischoff, those guys. I love that stuff. Quote

wolff Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 (edited) Why do people look at me funny when I say Prince has been one the best over the last 20 years and that he's close to the top of my favorites? Edited September 8, 2004 by wolff Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 dude its because prince got so popular and is so weird. i myself didnt fully realize what was up w/ it all until i really started getting into his music and 80s music in general. i guess some people might associate prince w/ the likes of m. jackson et al, but jackson WISHES he could have the talent of someone like prince. he truly is one of a kind-- i FINALLY realize now why miles called him the duke ellington of the 1980s.
